About the room

I have an available room to rent for occupancy on April 1st. The room and the common areas can be viewed before move-in, and the room will be sanitized and disinfected before you take possession of the space. It is fully furnished and is priced at $1050. A security deposit of $1050 and a background check is required before move-in. I am within a 3-minute walking distance of Palomar College and within a 5-minute drive time to CSUSM, St. Katherine, and St. Augustine. There are currently one dog and two senior cats in the home, so no other animals are allowed. Sorry, there are no exceptions, so don’t ask.
Both males and females are welcome if you don’t mind sharing the bathrooms with other males. There is currently one other female living in the home, and sharing a bathroom has not presented a problem. The room is for single occupancy only and not for couples, so don’t ask since there are no exceptions to this restriction.

The room is located downstairs near one of the shared baths and next to the kitchen. There are two full bathrooms, one upstairs and the other downstairs, with full showers, which are both shared. The room comes fully furnished and has a mini-fridge, ceiling fan, shelf storage, desk, built-in storage under the bed, dresser, nightstand, lamp, flat screen tv, and a queen-sized bed with a pillow-top mattress. I prefer to rent to someone with minimal furniture so that I won’t have to put my items in storage, which is an added expense. The room has ceramic tile flooring, and a new area rug, that is welcoming to your bare feet. The monthly rent includes all utilities (gas, electric, water, and WiFi (Cox Ultimate Hi-speed Internet), washer and dryer privileges, and access to Amazon Prime Video. Guests are welcome to visit, but in consideration of the other tenants, they will have to vacate the premises by 10 pm on weeknights and by midnight on weekends. No overnight guests or sleepovers are allowed. This is a single-family home, not a hotel. There are plenty of hotels/motels in the surrounding area if needed or necessary to accommodate your overnight, long-term, or visiting guests.

The monthly rent includes reserved parking in the driveway, even though there is plenty of on-street parking for your vehicle if you choose to park on the street. If your car leaks oil or other fluids, you will not be allowed to park in the driveway and will have to park on the street.

There are no drugs, partying, vaping, or smoking (medicinal or otherwise) allowed in or around the home. If your cravings really kick in, you are within walking distance of the community park, where you can puff until your heart’s content. Alcoholic beverages are allowed in your private space, such as your bedroom, but in consideration of others, they are not allowed in the common areas. While I am no Martha Stewart or OCD about cleanliness, I don’t want to live with slobs, have to tolerate strange body odors, or co-exist with someone who doesn’t pick up after themselves or who is inconsiderate of others or their private space. Since others share the common areas, in consideration of others, if you have an issue with cleanliness or are in the habit of leaving your items everywhere, please don’t bother applying. There are adults living here who would rather not spend their time cleaning up after you. Background checks are conducted and required before moving in.
