Ellsworth Avenue

We are looking for a third (female) roommate. Dates are August 8 2023- July 31 2024. So, we would be 3 women total. We would add your name to our 1-year lease. Rent is $953/month plus $100 utilities (see below). Note that we have to pay the first 4 months upfront in August, then in September we pay only 1 month’s rent until April 2024 then we don’t pay rent for May-July 2024. (This is super annoying we know!).

(Non-smoking/non-vaping/no drugs).

We are renting the second floor of a duplex house, located very close to CMU campus (15-minute walk). The neighborhood is surprisingly fancy–our neighbors have mansions! 😂

We have a backyard that we share with the people in the downstairs apartment, who have a cute dog. They are also PhD students. The yard has a deck, a grill (that we haven’t tried but we think it works), flower gardens, and we strung lights out to make it a nice place to have social gatherings.

Our house is really nice. We each have our own bedroom. We (Anna and Selina) and I share the common bathroom. You (the new roommate) would have your own bathroom (with a shower). Since your room is smaller, you can put your desk in the sunroom (see pictures), as long as everyone can still have access to the sunroom for occasional reading, relaxing, or for an occasional guest to stay in. You also have a closet in your room and an annex closet in the hallway, plus a huge basement. In general, storage is not an issue in our house!

We have a giant basement to store stuff in, with a side-door. We have a washer/dryer, and laundry is free!

We pay for Xfinity wifi and cable (we will soon have a TV), Water/Sewer, Electricity, and Gas, which averages about $100/month.

No pets. Parking is free across the street.

I’m a PhD student (statistics) with my roommate Anna Cobb (PhD mechanical engineering) at CMU. I like to run, play pickup soccer, and do artsy stuff. I’m from Maine originally but I’ve lived around the world (Ecuador, Turkey, Mozambique, Portugal, Mexico). Anna is from Georgia. We both like baking!
