About the room

Bedroom Size: ~9 feet by 8 feet

Total Apartment Interior: ~1,500 sqft

Utilities: ~$150 each (Internet, Electricity, and Gas)

Lease Duration: 1 Year I am renting this unit from a real estate company and the duration of their leases are 1 year at a time. If you are not able to stay for the entire year please do not apply.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY: Large shared living and dining room. The kitchen is small/medium sized and while it doesn’t have the best setup, it is perfectly serviceable. A few other important things to know about the apartment are that there is only a single shared bathroom/shower, the living and dinning rooms both have hard wood floors, while the Kitchen is linoleum and that the bedrooms are all carpeted, while the bathroom has tile flooring.

The really amazing thing about this apartment though is it’s awesome location in Squirrel Hill. It’s within easy walking distance of Frick Park [2 minute walk], a bus stop [2 minute walk], and the many restaurants along Forbes and Murray Ave, such as Everyday Noodle, Aladdin’s Eatery, and Silk Elephant just to name a few [10-15 minute walk]. Likewise there is a Giant Eagle supermarket, as well as a Panda Supermarket, within a 15 minute walk or 3-5 minute drive.

EASY ACCESS TO CMU AND PITT FOR STUDENTS
CMU is within walking distance [~35 minutes] so long as you don’t mind going up and down some hills, but with a bus stop so close to the house you can easily do the trip in 20 minutes if you time your departure right. If you have a car it’s an even shorter trip, just 8 minutes.

Pitt is a bit further away and would likely take you about an hour to walk, but the bus ride is only ~25-30 minutes (with one transfer) and it’s just a 10 minute drive if you have a car.

FURNITURE: Most major pieces of furniture for the common areas is already in place: The dining room table + chairs, couch, entertainment center, large screen TV, and the dish washer are all mine. However, assuming you do not have a LOT of furniture, there should be room for additional pieces. The bedroom is are completely unfurnished.

SHARED SPACES: The kitchen, living room, dinning room, bathroom, and entryway are all shared. We also have access to the basement with our upstairs neighbors. The basement is unfinished and really isn’t good for anything except storage.

ALLERGY WARNING: I have a cat who lives with me. He is friendly but if you are allergic to cats please do not apply.

MISC PROPERTY DETAILS:

No Children

Non-Smoking

In unit laundry (located in the basement)

On street parking available

Lots of available storage space in the (unfinished) basement

The apartment is the lower half of a duplex building, so we do have upstairs neighbors

No Additional Pets (real estate company only allows one and I already have a cat)

No Central Air conditioning, however I currently have a large window unit in both the dining room, living room and the bedroom. Utilities: ~$150 each

About the roomies

My name is Chris and I am a video editor. I work from home full time and I enjoy listening to audiobooks/YouTube Videos, going to the gym, and going for walks through the nearby park.

As a roommate I think I’m pretty easy to live with. I tend to keep to myself for the most part (though full disclosure: when I cook I do tend to take over the kitchen a bit). While I appreciate having personal/alone time I definitely don’t mind hanging out and doing stuff together with my roommate(s). I’m not much of a “partier” but I have been making an active effort to get out of the house and do stuff around the city more. Currently I am taking dance classes and once the weather gets fully nice I’ll likely be joining some sports leagues. I don’t drink very much/often and I don’t smoke at all. In terms of having guests over, I don’t have too many except for a weekly game night with some friends to play DnD.

Beyond all that, I’m very direct person and like to have rules, responsibilities, and boundaries clearly discussed and defined so if an issue comes up we can just chat about it and resolve things. But if the issue isn’t all that important then I likely won’t make that big a deal out of it. Likewise I can occasionally be forgetful about stuff, if that happens a casual “Hey Chris, can you do X?” is more than enough for me to realize that I messed up and I’ll take care of the issue ASAP.

The other “roommate” that you’ll be living with is my cat, Ted. Ted is ~5 and and pays rent by being adorable, letting us pet him, and in the fluff he leaves around the house. While he is pretty friendly he does take a little bit to warm up to new people (he was originally a stray). He’s also a long hair cat… so fair warning his hair does tend to get everywhere. On the upside, he is VERY fluffy and when he is in the mood he loves to be pet. I also have to travel for work on occasion. So an important part of having a roommate for me is you being willing to take care of Ted whenever I’m gone for either work or vacation (don’t worry, he is pretty low maintenance).
