About the room
I have for rent two** sections in my private residence.
(1) The upstairs comes with two rooms, both furnished, but if you’re bringing your own, the existing furniture would be moved to storage. Currently, one bedroom has a single bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and a clothes rack. The other has a queen-sized bed, dresser, bookcase, and wall-mounted TV. The hallway has more shelving for your use.
The downside of having two rooms on the second floor is that the bathroom is located in the basement (two flights of stairs). Keep this in mind if you contact me.
(2) The other room for rent is in the basement. This one comes with a full-sized bed, two nightstands, a clothes rack, and a standing light. I might be adding a TV/stand as well. You may move bedding/dressers around, but do not mount anything on the walls without permission.
The basement has a washer & dryer in the hall leading to the bathroom (Double sinks, shower, tub with Jacuzzi), which you will share with the upstairs tenant. Stays cool in the summer, but will require a space heater in winter for extra warmth. The electric sump pump with battery backup is stowed away in the corner and makes occasional muted sounds when at work. Large window with escape ladder for extra security/safety.
There would be a small amount of space in my shed for additional items if you need it.
The kitchen is shared. Each tenant will have fridge/freezer/dry storage space.
All utilities (Water, heat, electricity, trash, and High-speed internet) are included; however, it’s requested to keep the lights off when away from home, please.
These rooms are for single female tenants only. Couples are okay, but rent will be $750/month. You will have a set space in the kitchen for your cooking supplies and a portion of fridge & pantry space.
Since it’s been asked before: The bus stop is about an eight-minute walk from home.
As this is a private residence, there are a few rules to consider.
- Quiet hours from 10 pm-9 am
- No smoking/Vaping/Drugs
- No pets (I have four dogs on premises and do not want to be responsible for any more)
- Single lane of off-street parking available, so if renting to a couple, they can not park side by side
- Any company should not stay more than two days at a time (visiting family exceptions allowed)
To rent: I need a $40 non-refundable background check fee. Proof of income. $500 deposit (refunded one month after the end of the lease) plus first and last month’s rent will be due at lease signing. (That’s $1700 due at signing - prorated if moving in mid-month). Also, the lease is month-to-month, and auto-renews when payment is accepted.
Note, I will not text or call you until we’ve set up a showing. I will not rent site unseen. If interested after viewing, I will need time to do a background check, but your $40 will hold the room until then.
About the roomies
About me: 54 male – non-smoker, no drugs, works full time, and spends 99% of my time in my section of the home. I’m a writer & solitude is my partner :)
