The property: Two story, second floor condo in the Savin Hill neighborhood of Dorchester. 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, 1,800 sqft. Excellent natural lighting, fully equipped kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer. Located only a short walk from JFK station, Savin Hill station, UMass Boston’s Harbor Point campus, as well as two grocery stores (Star Market and Stop & Shop), and is incredibly close to Patten’s Cove, Savin Hill Park, and several beaches. Includes a private parking space off of the main road. The unit also has a shared basement storage space, hardwood floors, gas stove, central heating and air conditioning, marble countertops, and a balcony.

The room: Medium sized room with closet and two windows with screens. You will also have access to all communal spaces (two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, patio, and basement, as well as a parking space. Lease begins in August but you can move in by the end of July if you would like. Note: The living room will be largely unfurnished if you would like to furnish it and “take it over” so to speak. Everyone else in the house tends to stay in their rooms.

Utilities: Everyone chips in on shared utilities, which are electricity (Eversource) and gas (National Grid), water is provided by the ownership. Utilities typically come to about $100ish each month TOTAL before they are split three ways, meaning they are usually around $30 per room. Internet is gigabit Verizon fios and costs $94.99 a month, which, when divided three ways, comes to $32 per room, bringing the total cost of utilities to about $60 per room per month, give or take. We may switch to a cheaper internet plan if people prefer.

Currently occupied by a lesbian couple from the west coast and our 18 year old foster daughter. One of us works full-time in food service and the other is a full-time student at UMB. We are pretty laid back but have zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of bigotry. We tend to stay in our room or on the patio, but use the kitchen for baking and cooking fairly often. We both do a lot of sewing and other crafts. We have a cat, but she can be kept in our room if that is requested. We don’t mind other pets so long as they are well trained and friendly to cats/other cats. I speak English, Haitian Creole, and some French and Spanish.
