About the room

Seeking a sweet, professional queer couple who is social justice-minded and interested in communal housing for a big master bedroom + ensuite full bathroom. We would like housemates who are reliable, tidy, and conscientious.

About the neighborhood: Our North Beacon Hill neighborhood is located near the number 1 light rail stop, with several buses, including the 60 and 36. Rainier Avenue, another transit hub, is down the hill. A Red Apple market and two gas stations are a few blocks down the street, and the Beacon Hill branch of the Seattle public library is a couple blocks further down. A cute bodega-like shop is two blocks away. The International District and downtown are just over the Jose Rizal bridge to the north.

About the room: The room is large, with a mountain view out the window. There is a walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom, entirely separate from other housemates.

About the house: There’s a lot of storage space in the house, including a closet with shelves in the hallway, a large garage with shelving, and a storage room just off the downstairs half-bathroom. We have a huge kitchen with good counter space, a dishwasher, and a full washer/dryer in the laundry room. The house is big and its sunlight welcomes plants. One prospective housemate has a kitty, but unfortunately, that’s all we can have. The landlord doesn’t want smoke or vaping indoors. There is a separate-entranced basement apartment with other tenants, so noise levels in the living room and kitchen should be kept to a minimum in the evenings.

We have two parking spaces in the front, and street parking is simple.

Rent is $1140/mo and utilities are roughly $250 every other month. With downstairs occupants, it is less. The lease is for a year. The landlord ultimately asks that you have okay credit and a stable income.

Goals with the house: We’d like a nice little place where everyone is comfortable solving problems together, where communication is important, and where a tiny community can be created. We value mutual respect and consideration, and feel that everyone should do their part in cultivating and maintaining a peaceful and healthy household for everyone involved. We prefer someone who has lived with housemates before. No firearms, please.

Chores will be done by a chart, but we can tweak it for everyone’s individual needs.

We can have quietly chatty hangouts, movie nights and (very quiet) little shindigs, but we certainly recognize the importance of alone time and autonomy.

Thanks for looking!

About the roomies

About me: I’m a Black disabled musician and writer who hopes to go to school for library science. I make and play music (guitar/bass/vocals/keys/e-drums) out loud, but not at earsplitting volumes. My room is at the far end of the house. I keep working hours from 1 pm and wind down at around 6, but in the summer when it’s light out for longer, up to 8pm at low volumes, and I am not averse to being asked to turn it down or switch to headphones if anybody needs me to. I can adjust my hours. I like repairing old electronics, reading, noir, collecting and designing cassettes, and drawing.
