About the room
Offering up a bedroom in a 2 bd/1ba apartment in Adams Point neighborhood of Oakland. Avail for early July 2026 move-in.
Rent is $1,175/month for private, unfurnished room with closet and big windows, overlooking shared backyard. Departing housemate offering a small desk and bookcase if you want it.
I am the other tenant and you’ll share common spaces with me. Departing tenant from the original lease is moving out to focus on personal matters. (You and I would split the rent 50/50 from original lease.)
In our shared spaces, we have minimal furnishings. You’re welcome to decorate if that’s your thing! The living room has built-in cabinets for your storage (I’d like 1 shelf only). Small galley kitchen with good amount of shelves for your stuff. Gas range and oven.
Other costs: Your split for gas/electric runs approx $50/month, Internet budgeting $30/month. Landlord covers: water, sewer, garbage
Lots of other free amenities! Large washer and dryer (shared with other tenants), bike storage, gated parking (you pay for EV charging).
What I’m looking for: The best fit is someone who also likes home to be a relatively quiet space to relax and reset. I prefer to keep common spaces somewhat tidy and take turns cleaning. Because of the layout of the apartment, prefer someone who does not have frequent guests.
Move in date: July 1, negotiable. Landlord requires you to be on the lease and provide $1,800 deposit. They run a background and credit check.
Lease is month to month. Highly prefer someone who expects to say for 6 months-plus.
Getting around Adams Point and out to the City is easy and one of the top attractions for me! Bus stops for 12 and NL lines are a block away, 57 line is nearby, and 19th Street BART station is a short bike ride or doable walk away. Several grocery stores are walking distance including Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. It’s a lively neighborhood of restaurants and a few bars and other businesses. And Lake Merritt, of course.

About the roomies
I’m a 40sF working professional in nonprofit project management. Before that I was a journalist. I work a hybrid schedule and have friends and hobbies outside the home. I truly enjoy having friendly chats with my housemate. I also acknowledge we have our own lives happening and do not need to be best friends. Other than listening to podcasts or music, I’m generally pretty quiet at home. I like to do basic cooking and do a meal prep once a week. I don’t smoke and have allergies. Willing to accept outsider smoker if we otherwise get along.
