About the room
[Can share a video tour!] The Apartment:
- Located in a 2 bed / 1 bath in a 3 family limestone home in Flatbush.
- The rent includes heat and gas (huge plus in the winter). Electric and wifi are around $80 ea/month. Sometimes a bit less depending on the season.
- The room available for rent is located at the back of the apt. It is very sunny with 2 big west-facing windows. Getting to wrap up remote working days with the sun filling my room with a warm yellow glow (and occasionally accompanied a neighbor beautifully playing the violin) is one of my favorite things abut the room. The room is spacious (by NYC standards lol) and I currently comfortably fit a double bed, an armchair, a desk, a peloton bike, a dresser, and large rolling cart. There’s a ceiling fan in the room and you will need to bring your own window AC unit.
- Storage: There’s a built in closet and above-closet space. The closet is larger than it appears by the doors and it extends the full width of the wall it’s on. There’s also an additional closet in the hallway that I use for extra storage that would become yours. The bathroom mirror cabinet storage would also be split as well as a cabinet space in the kitchen.
- There’s a separate kitchen equipped with a gas stove, a large living room, and dining room. The other roommates room is off the dining room and this room is off the kitchen.
- Pets: There’s a firm no pets policy in the lease as well as the other roommate being allergic to cats.
- No smoking of any kind in the apt.
- There isn’t a dishwasher or washer/dryer and no potential to add one per lease terms.
- Looking for someone who can sign onto a 1 year lease starting June 1 and would need to go through landlord approval. Open to a later move in date (June 15, July 1 latest), if needed.
Transportation:
- 3 min walk to the Beverly 2/5 station, 20min walk to the Beverly Q Station.
- About 15mins to downtown Brooklyn and 25mins to get to lower Manhattan.
Neighborhood:
- Flatbush is a vibrant area with a long time Caribbean community and the delicious food to match. This particular block is very quiet but the bustle of Flatbush ave and Church ave is a short walk a way. You’ll find many cafes along Rogers ave. Prospect Park is a 30min walk or 2 train stops away where you can enjoy picnics by the lake or go roller/ice skating depending on the season. I grew up in the Brooklyn and the surrounding neighborhoods and have a lot of affection for the area.
- There’s a laundromat and supermarket less than a 5 min walk. I tend to go to the Target that’s 2 train stops away or to Trader Joes at Dekalb Market which is about a 15min train ride.
About the roomies
- I’m posting this on behalf of the remaining roommate. This apartment has been good to me in the 3 years I’ve lived here and it’s hard to come by such a spacious and affordable apartment in NYC. I’m in my 30s and leaving because I am moving in with my partner.
- The other roommate is in her 50s. She has too many interior design and fashion coffee tables to count (fun to browse through!), watches all the 90 day fiancé shows, knows more of the pop girlies than I could name, and is growing her interest in shooting digital photography. She likes to decorate and search for deals on MCM furniture on Craigslist. She values a very clean and peaceful home and is looking for a roommate who values the same and is considerate of the space. While she currently rarely has guests over, she doesn’t mind if you bring over a friend or two but not the whole party. She’s looking to maintain a friendly and respectful relationship. Great if you hit it off but not at all a requirement to become besties. She is happy to occasionally share a meal together or watch the a movie or a tv show together. She very independent and works in Manhattan 4 days of the week.
