The roommate will have their own separate entrance to the apartment, sole use of the true bedroom (unfurnished), share the kitchen & bathroom, & have partial use of the furnished living room. There is no laundry on site, so residents use the local laundromats. Free street parking is always readily available, & a bicycle can be stored securely in the basement. The bedroom is at the rear of the house, overlooking the back yard & the parking lot of a neighboring garden apartment complex, so it’s typically very peaceful & conducive to study, reflection, & rest.

The right applicant must be reliably quiet, clean, responsible, solvent, & respectful. The ideal applicant would be an advanced academic or employed in a field like librarianship, the humanities, or the cultural professions. The leaseholder offering this room rental is a mature, bookish, bohemian gay man with deep roots in progressive politics & queer culture. While the room rental is available from August 1 (possibly sooner), it will remain available until the right applicant is found.

Monthly rent is $770, with free Fios internet service included & gas/electric split evenly. The landlords require proof of employment, an in-person interview, & a security deposit equal to one month’s rent in order to move in. Absolutely no pets, no cigarettes (not outside, either), no musical instruments, no overnight guests of more than one night, & never any parties. The household is totally 420-friendly, but no use of serious drugs is tolerated.
