About the room
Home share in large 3 BR home located on 4 acres in SW Springfield. The owner, a physician, has lived here for decades along with his significant other: his dog. He aspires to travel often out west starting this summer to establish a new business.
(As an option a home-share individual could accept some responsibilities and as a routine to reduce the monthly costs.
An individual offering 5 to 6 hours a week of outdoor lawn, garden, tree, and a myriad of upkeep outdoor duties could reduce the monthly cost almost by half.)
The property is beautifully landscaped. It has often called an oasis. It has a 2 lane, 70 foot lap pool that is open from mid June to November.
Regardless of the season, there is never a paucity of things to accomplish inside and out.
The room available is one of two bedrooms in the upstairs area. The two bedrooms share a common den or reading room, off which is the full bath. Each of the two bedrooms have a full sit down vanity with a sink, full wall mirror above the vanity and a good sized walk-in closet with abundant drawers and shelves. Each BR also has it’s sliding glass doors opening onto the deck over looking the pool. Currently, magnolia blooms will soon be within reach just off the balcony.
No pets. One is plenty. No smokers of nicotine. Vapes? Eh. Cannabis? Not inside. No alcoholism but drinking is fine; but of course, no frank inebriation.
Agreement would be month to month with a 30 days notice. Most individuals that have had the opportunity to live her have stayed for years. The other current occupant in the second upstairs BR is a (straight) recent college graduate that works two jobs and his late 20’s. He’s been here for 3 years. He works second shift, sleeping late…. so the noise level is respectfully most always kept low during those times. He is hardly ever seen but often heard cheering on weekends for some sports team regardless of the season. Gatherings and pool parties are great, just give a bit of notice.
The owner, being a physician is hyper-vigilant about airborne infectious diseases. In close proximity to others he may wear a mask or simply ask to be reassured that individuals are not currently having symptoms. While the owner cooks most meals the guy upstairs, being a Door Dash super-achiever, most often brings home his late meals.
This monthly cost covers all the utilities too… unless the combined gas and electric exceed $400 combined monthly, which occasionally occurs. When this occurs we split the overage 3 ways. This is to foster a bit of conservation and community effort to control energy waste.
About the roomies
The gentleman upstairs is rarely seen or heard. Other than his two jobs he’s into Crypto and a bit of sports betting. He has buddies over for some of the games and often sets the big screen up in the central kitchen dining area. The owner is either doing telemedicine, on a trek through the woods with his dog, working in the yard, or catching up on the cable news, with MSNBC and BBC being the most favored. They prefer left leaning perspectives.
