About the room
There is a small dog park in the neighborhood. The apartment is located in Dover, DE. And I believe there is a program where new workers can get free public transit for 30 days in the city.
It seems like a nice area. Not much crime, safe. I am new to the area, so just getting to know it myself.
The pictures of the apartment are of a model/stock. I have not moved in yet. I move in on June 1. But the move-in date for everybody else is June 2nd.
The apartment is on the third floor of the building. Toward the front, on the left-hand side of the building.
I figure I need two other roommates. So, “The more, the merrier!”
I can send driving directions after your application is approved, and I have gotten to know you a bit.
I am paying the deposit on Friday for the first two months, possibly, and I might have at least a couples weeks or so before I need to add anybody to the application.
The price for rent may need some adjusting, but won’t go up to more than $750 per person. The total rent is $1,805 per month. I only really need $750 for the first couple months’ rent. Then it will drop back down to $637. Except I am paying $1,108 for the first month, as my contribution. Because I have to account for two months’ rent in advance. Your portion will be $1,500 of the total rent, approximately, if you pay $750 each. The total for the first couple months is $2,805. The extra $350 helps cover the security deposit and application fees. I am thinking this will take care of water and electricity as well, but I am not 100% certain. If not, I will try to take care of the utilities on my own. I thought I would be totally transparent on where it is all going!
Oh, and you will have to supply your own furniture. We can work out what is needed (furniture-wise) later. I have not yet bought all the furniture I will need for the new place, so we can work out who is bringing what between us.
This apartment is about 53 minutes to Dewey Beach, and 55 to Rehoboth, driving. (If you are like me and love the beach!)
Please See:
One of my roommates will have to co-sign, as I do not have any employment history yet.
Only one of the rooms will have their own bathroom (first square room on the left side of the apartment). The other person will be sharing a bathroom with me.
My room will be the narrowest one (the rectangular one) facing the living room. You may pick either of the two other (square) rooms facing the front of the apartment. I will let you know individually which rooms are claimed.
About the roomies
You will have to co-sign for the room. I do not have any employment history yet.
I am a 29 year old female. I love to read and am quiet. I am into Taylor Swift and K-pop, and listen to music all the time to start each day. I love the beach, and enjoy spending summers at Dewey. Usually.
I am a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan (football). And I love the Tampa Bay Rays (baseball).
I love to write. I do poetry and song lyrics.
I do have a cat named Pippin, however he will not be joining me at the new apartment during the first year due to his being sickly, and vet bills being too high. He is also very bonded to his brother, Momo, so it would probably not be fair to take him away. Pippin may come live with me later on, but I have decided that the first year or so of living there, he won’t be with us.
You must be okay with eventually sharing your space with a cat, potentially.
Also, Pippin is Feline Herpes Virus positive, so you should decide – if you have a cat – whether you are okay with them being exposed to it. You should make a decision on if it is a risk you are willing to take. I may be able to isolate him from other animals if it is a problem, during an episode. It is ONLY contagious to other cats, not infectious to any other species.
I go grocery shopping twice a week, and am happy to assist you with some of your groceries if you need it. Electricity and water are not included in rent. But I will probably pay for that. So no worries!
I plan to be working at PetSmart as a pet bather starting in June. I will be working full-time, but will likely have Wednesdays and Thursdays off. So expect to see me on those two days. I will keep to myself if you prefer, but I can also be quite social. It depends on the other person.
I will most likely work until later (9 PM) and am a bit of a night owl. Some nights I do go to bed early, however. But most of the time, I am up late into the night (think until 11:30 PM). I am really quiet, but it might bother some people if you are more a morning person.
Notes:
I do not smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol. I generally do not get along with people who drink frequently or love to party.
I am fine with a non-binary roommate as well as another woman. But no men!
Also, I am liberal politically. So I won’t room with anybody who is really conservative or doesn’t at least keep an open mind. Some of the other roommates I may have will possibly be LGBTQ or liberal/independent politically, so you have to be okay with this. I will not room with anybody who is racist or homophobic.
Conclusion:
Please feel free to reach out to me! With all that said, I am pretty friendly, and love meeting people.
