About the room
Location: Bucktown / Logan Square, few minutes’ walk to the Western Blue Line, easy bike ride to Milwaukee Ave & the 606, free street parking
Immediate move-in available, following landlady approval. Would be a sublet through July 1, with the option for both of us to renew for a year from there if it feels like a good fit, at the same rent
Utilities: half of electric/gas/internet, $100/month on average, varies seasonally
About the apartment:
• Garden unit, but not a dark basement - full-size windows, no truly below-ground living area, and privacy sheers front and back so curtains can usually stay open • Small but well-kept, comfortable, and functional • Central heat & AC, in-unit laundry, and a dishwasher • Owner-occupied house with a genuinely great landlady right upstairs: communicative, responsive, and actually fixes things • Semi-furnished common spaces, happy to add more depending on what you have or need • Fully furnished/equipped kitchen, all you truly need is your own knives
You’ll have
• A small private bedroom, fits a queen max, plus a walk-in closet • Use of most of the front room if you’d like extra living/work space, for example, a large desk, two bikes, or both • Plenty of storage: lots of cabinet space, half the fridge, and the full freezer (I use a chest freezer) • I have basic tools and am good at wall repair and paint, so you can hang stuff without worrying, even put up shelves or wall cabinets if you want
About the roomies
I’m a 29-year-old guy looking for a respectful, low-drama roommate who communicates well. I drink socially, don’t smoke, occasionally have an edible. I value a home that stays reasonably clean, comfortable, and easy to live in. I work in environmental advocacy and education, and I play sax and am in a rock/blues band, but I practice elsewhere, so no repeated sax lines through the wall. I’m out most evenings doing that.
I’ve had male and female roommates before and am still friends with some years later. Happy to be friends or kinda just be, either works.
Looking for someone financially reliable, considerate, and able to communicate directly and respectfully. This is a good fit for someone who wants a peaceful, functional home rather than a party house. Great for a student or someone working from home during normal business hours. (Bonus points if you want to split a Costco membership.)
I love cats, so a cat could possibly work with landlady approval and good logistics. No dogs sadly.
