About the room
Private bedroom for rent in a beautiful historic Victorian home near Downtown Long Beach. This room is on the 3rd floor and has one small window and central heat/A/C. Shared living in a 7-bedroom home (occupancy varies). Bathrooms are shared 2 roommates per bathroom; the master has a private bath (currently rented) plus 3 additional bathrooms.
Shared spaces: community kitchen + spacious common areas including living room, library room, and pool table area. Washer/dryer on-site (laundry hours 9:00 AM–9:00 PM). Front porch + yard. Walking distance to public transportation; easy access to 710, PCH, and Ocean Blvd. Close to restaurants, retailers, entertainment, and museums (Long Beach Museum of Art, MOLAA).
Rent/Utilities: $850/month + shared utilities split among residents (based on occupancy): electric, water, gas, internet. Deposit: $700. NO PETS. No smoking or drugs of any kind in the house. No exceptions. Screening: Tenant completes their own credit/background verification using a link that will be provided. No application fee.
Parking: limited driveway first come/first serve + street parking as needed. Driveway rules: if you park in driveway, leave car keys in basket by front door so cars can be moved when necessary; cars may be moved to street in front of house except Tuesdays (street sweeping). Guests may NOT park in driveway. No exceptions.
About the roomies
House rules / living expectations: all residents share cleaning duties and are responsible for maintaining common areas clean including bathrooms and kitchens. Tenants are assigned communal areas to clean (based partly on use). Assigned areas are subject to change, but changes require unanimous agreement of all other tenants. Expenses for cleaning supplies used in designated areas are the responsibility of the tenant assigned to that area. If tenants observe failure of cleanliness by another tenant, a meeting will be held by all tenants to address and resolve the failure to comply with house rules. Kitchen/cooking areas must follow the motto “Leave it the way you found it”: wipe counters before you leave, wash dishes before you leave, sweep/mop when necessary, and take out trash when full (never overstuffed or smashed down). Kitchen supply costs are split among tenants with receipts provided before payment. Tenants must be included and active on the house group text to keep up with house matters. No loud parties; obey noise laws.
Guests: day guests allowed with notice via group text. Overnight guests require unanimous approval of all tenants. Extended overnight stays (more than one night) require unanimous approval, guest introduction, and may not exceed 1 week.
Historic home care (legal): tenants understand the home is one of few historic homes still standing in Long Beach and is legally held to a higher standard of home care and cleanliness. Tenants are forbidden from causing further imperfection to the original red wood found throughout the house; no drilling, nailing, taping, or tacking on any original wood/historic surfaces. Any damage must be reported immediately to property management; consequences may include removal.
