About the roomies

Greetings, My name Ngozi McCormick. I was a waiter in the french quarters at the famous Cafe du monde for 10 years. As a server, one of the issues many of my colleagues had was finding affordable housing near the french quarters. 80% of the jobs in New Orleans is in the service industry. Serving wages are still $2.16 per hour. I remember the days that I might have made $200 and other days I might have made $5. My personal goal is to provide affordable housing in an expensive housing market place. Im not excluding others, but especially for those who work in the service industry. I have 17 years of experience in the real-estate industry as well as being a property manager. I have systems in place and personally manage the property myself to ensure safety and a quality experience for everyone. I make sure all housing accessories, supplies and toiletries are available. I have a very effective cleaning system and schedule that keeps the property neat and tidy at all times. I have a construction company who handles any maintenance issues. I have an agreement/cooperation contract that everyone must sign to ensure everyone is treated fairly and with respect. Im a people’s person and most of the people I have housed are usually of similar character. I know what it is like to be employed at a job in New Orleans, which gives me an edge when providing housing. I understand the changes in the season’s we experience in this city. I have some tenants that I have housed over 10 years and still do. I have had tenants call me back to tell me they are in a house now. Most tenants I’ve housed are in a much better financial condition then they were before I housed them. I receive a lot of thank you calls from those that are now living where they would like to be. This is all because they were in a position to save money by living temporarily in an affordable housing structure. Most of my tenants have 2 or 3 jobs because they have a personal goal to achieve. Therefore, usually the property is mostly empty because most tenants are at work. This is my personal way of helping people accomplish financial goes. This is my way of giving back to the community. This is my way of giving. This is my way of building lasting relationships. I have helped many people get into other housing by giving good references if I feel you were a great tenant and keeping track of rent payments. Which allows a lender or another landlord to access if you would be considered a good candidate for a mortgage loan or leasing agreement. Im here to help and serve. Im still a server and this is how I provide service to others.
