We have a very nice looking room coming available on Jan 1 in our mixed use building, for use as an atypical place to live, an art / creative studio or office workspace. The room is large, 230 sqft, quiet, has very nice hard flooring, a window with lots of natural light, a great built in air conditioner and heater system with your own in-room thermostat, a secure locking door and private parking spot. It’s unfurnished but I do have a desk and office chair for the room if you’d like to use them.

There is a kitchenette for use, equipped with a small refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster oven, electric burner and coffee maker. The bathroom is only a half bath so you’d need to shower at the gym, etc. That’s part of the reason the price is lower compared to other rooms of this size.

Rent is $950/mo, month to month. Utilities are $50/mo which includes PG&E, Fiber WiFi and your own parking space in our private parking lot. The building is very secure with security cameras outside and in the common hallway area. The neighborhood is safe, quiet at night and centrally located in Santa Cruz with easy access to Hwy 1.

The vibe is very independent and peaceful. You’d not have much interaction with us, as we are busy working professionals who might only see you in passing through the hall. We need someone quiet and unfortunately we can’t allow you to have any guests, due to restrictions on our insurance policy. This again, is reflected in the lower cost to have a nice room of this size.

So many people can’t find a place here because there isn’t enough housing. This is an opportunity for us to help someone out who can’t find typical housing.

Two other people in the building but one is only there part time and rarely spends the night. You will most likely rarely see him. The other works a lot and she doesn’t have any common walls with your room. The kitchenette is basically all for you, the two others don’t need to use it.
