About the room
This room is the master bedroom of our 3 bedrooms. It faces southwest and has a picture window, bringing in tons of natural light. It also has an in-wall A/C. The outgoing tenant is leaving her bed, dresser, table, and some other small furniture items. It opens onto the living room but is not next to any other bedroom; the two others are on the other end of the apartment.
The kitchen and living room are a combined common area, facing southeast so they also get plenty of light. In addition to this we have a shared office room off the living room.
The apartment is the top floor of a 2-story townhouse. We’re 1 minute’s walk from Astoria Park and 5-10 minutes’ walk from the Astoria-Ditmars N/W train station, on a quiet side street with little traffic and fairly easy-to-find street parking. This area of the neighborhood has lots of young people and families and is very safe.
The house’s owners are an elderly couple who live downstairs and are responsive to issues. They request tenants be quiet and respectful of the space, without frequent guests. They will likely wish to see proof of income (discuss with me if you’re a student with a housing budget but no income). Unfortunately, they are firm on no mammal pets and I’m not sure about non-mammal pets.
The lease term is 1 year, renewable at the end of the year. Note that it will not allow subletting.
Utility bills for internet, electricity, and gas typically come to around $50 per person per month. Heat and hot water are included in the rent.
About the roomies
Hi, we’re Cameron and Ella!
We’re professionals in our 20s and 30s and are not a couple. We aspire to be friends with our roommates without necessarily being best friends. We are both pretty laid back and are looking for people who are also laid back - people who don’t bring the party or the drama home, and who will put in equal effort to keep the place clean.
Ella’s preference is for us to maintain the existing gender balance in our household (2 women, 1 man), so we are looking for female roommates only.
Cameron is into cycling, card and board games, playing sports in local leagues, hiking and cooking.
Ella is into acting, photography, and language. Occasionally she will record auditions and coordinate with the other tenants for a quiet time in which to do so.
