About the room

Big bedrooms (my queen is very comfortable within my room!). Painted hardwood floors with ample windows. Large enough kitchen that 2 people can cook together with not much difficulty. Includes washer and dryer in good condition. Very close to Commons-just a few blocks up South Hill! I live here currently and have a good relationship with the landlord. It is preferred that we handle non-technical issues ourselves as much as possible. (I will add pics tomorrow but want to get started on process…) Utilities are texted out to us on a quarterly basis.

I’m looking for a few thoughtful roommates to share my space with on lower South Hill. Let me tell you what I value in a housemate: I appreciate someone who keeps things tidy - picking up after themselves, managing their food properly, and contributing to cleaning our shared spaces. I’ve never done a chore wheel before, but I’m open to creating some structure that keeps things fair and clean. Trust is important to me, so I do require references from both a previous landlord and roommate - this helps me feel confident we’ll be a good match. I also need to know you can consistently make rent, whether through a job, student loans, or other means. My dog is an important part of my household. If you’ve lived with dogs before, you’ll understand the responsibilities involved. If not, we should talk about what that means day-to-day. She is a hound mix, very easy-going and liking people is her default-truly, a low-maintenance dog. I have celiac disease, which means I need a roommate who understands cross-contamination and is willing to follow some specific kitchen protocols to keep things safe. While I’m not “super sensitive” (whatever that means), staying on top of it makes a big difference to how I can work. Your approach to communication and problem-solving matters to me. I value someone who can address concerns directly and work through challenges collaboratively. This extends to taking responsibility for guests - if my boyfriend is being too loud, I’d want you to feel comfortable bringing that to me. Our lifestyles should complement each other, so let’s discuss your preferences around noise, social activity, and your typical daily schedule to make sure we’re compatible. In the spirit of fairness, I’m happy to answer all these questions about myself too. I believe in creating a home based on mutual respect and clear communication. If this sounds like a good fit, I’d love to hear from you about these things, and we can discuss the space details and logistics from there. A bit more about me: I’m about to start grad school for an MPH as an older student. I def find the sciences broadly interesting and am working towards turning applied science into a career. I’m a bit of a homebody and like cooking. My bf will likely be over a few times a week, as he and I are close. Latest stress relief for me has been Better Call Saul and Animal Crossing but most of the year I’m enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.

About the roomies

Currently we are 3 women in science, mostly grad students. We have either gone to Cornell in the past or will be going there shortly.
