We’re seeking an active professional or student to rent a furnished bedroom in a large, beautiful house in a comfortable neighborhood.

Our 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom house is on Matheson Court, a quiet outlet from Matheson Road just north of Clayton Road (near the Bailey Road intersection). Concord BART is 3 miles away (west down Clayton Road); you can also reach BART by boarding the #10 bus at Clayton and Bailey. Highway 242, which connects to highway 680, is 5 miles away. The Cal. State East Bay (Concord) campus is 2 miles away, less than 10 minutes by car. Diablo Valley College is 6 miles away, around 20 minutes by car.

Grocery stores, general stores, a hardware store and many restaurants line our side of Clayton Road, easily reachable by foot, car or bus. Two beautiful parks are within walking distance — or a 5-minute drive — from our house: the large Newhall Community Park south of Clayton Road, and the small Brazil Quarry Park north of Clayton Road.

ROOM & HOUSE DETAILS: The bedroom is upstairs in this spacious house, and measures 10 x 11 feet — plus a closet 2 feet deep by 5 feet wide. It is furnished with a comfortable queen-size bed, night-table, floor lamp, and a large wooden cabinet. A central light fixture on the high ceiling provides even lighting. The window faces southeast, catching the morning sun and offering a partial view of Mount Diablo. A well-lighted bathroom near your bedroom includes two sinks, a medicine cabinet, shower/bathtub, and toilet. A laundry room is just across the hall from your bedroom. You’ll also have access to the common areas: kitchen, dining room, and living room — also the back yard, which has a small swimming pool (unheated) and a spa (winter heating available).

FINANCIAL DETAILS: Rent is $950 per month, for a single person. All utilities are included in this rent payment: gas and electricity, wifi internet, water, and trash collection. The lease will be month-to-month, with an option to negotiate a longer-period lease if desired by both parties. To prove your ability to pay the rent, please show us the last three months of your paycheck stubs or bank statements. Move-in cost includes first month’s rent ($950), plus $950 security deposit. Rent will be due at the beginning of each monthly cycle.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Please provide us with three personal references. We allow no smoking, recreational drugs, or excess drinking in our house.

We are an older working couple who enjoy gardening around the house. You would share a bathroom with a polite couple who work long hours.
