About the room

Spacious two-story condo in Lake Smith Condos with two large primary suites. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom and walk-in closet, so both roommates get actual privacy. No awkward “whose towel is this?” investigations. We are adults. Allegedly.

The room will come furnished, making move-in easy. The shared spaces are also fully furnished and comfortable, with a cozy living room, fireplace, dining area, and fenced-in patio. The house is tastefully decorated, cozy, and very lived-in. I’ve been here six years, so if you’re looking for untouched, sterile, “nobody has ever sat on this couch” apartment energy, this is not your stop. If you want safe, clean, settled, and comfortable, we may be in business.

Central AC is currently not in use, but the home has state-of-the-art window AC units that keep the place cool and can be controlled by app. So yes, you can adjust the temperature from your phone like a tiny climate tyrant. Very 2026. Very unnecessary. Very convenient.

The home has in-unit laundry. The washer and dryer are currently tiny AF, and I’m researching larger solutions because I, too, dream of washing more than three socks and a washcloth at a time. For now, I personally send my laundry out to be washed, folded, and returned like a delicate Victorian widow with Wi-Fi. There is also a professional cleaning lady who comes twice a week. I’ve known and worked with her for over 20 years, so the house stays clean without anyone needing to pretend they “were just about to mop.” She is very sassy, very opinionated, and usually correct, which is honestly rude but helpful.

The kitchen has the usual appliances and everything needed for basic cooking, though I personally do not cook much. Full fridge honesty: the fridge does not make ice. I have no idea why. It never has since I moved in, and at some point I simply accepted this as part of the lore.

The condo is an end unit, which means more privacy, easier parking, and less neighbor noise. The unit next door has been long-term unoccupied, so it is very quiet. I’ve had full-on gatherings here, and from outside you would barely know anything was happening. Not that I’m promising bangers every weekend. Just saying the walls are doing their job.

There is a neighborhood pool, and the dumpster and mailbox are both super close. No sad little trash pilgrimage across the complex. The pool does get kids in the summer because apparently there are somehow 47 children living in every two-bedroom condo, but they are not a nuisance. If you want kid-free pool time, go during off-peak hours like a strategic adult.

The home is about 1,240 square feet. Translation: it is comfortable, but it is not a mansion where two people can avoid each other forever. Unless you truly never leave your room, we will see each other like normal humans. Horrifying, I know. The ceilings are tall, especially upstairs, but yes, there is some older popcorn ceiling. Glamorous? No. Functional? Absolutely.

Location-wise, you’re close to Chic’s Beach/Chesapeake Beach, Town Center, Little Creek, Naval Station Norfolk, I-64, and I-264. It’s a convenient setup for someone who wants privacy, comfort, and easy access around Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

About the roomies

Hey, I’m Joe. I’m former military, LGBTQ-friendly, social AF, and I work from home. So yes, I am around the house a lot, and yes, that means I care about the place being clean, comfortable, and not weird.

I am very social and enjoy having friends over for food, drinks, games, porch hangs, or casual nights in. I like people. I like laughter. I like a house that feels lived in. The vibe is friendly and lively, but still respectful. I want the house to feel welcoming, not chaotic.

This is probably a good fit if you want to save money compared with renting your own apartment, need a 6-month to 1-year setup, do not have a ton of furniture or household stuff, and want to settle into a safe, secure, already-furnished home with a non-weirdo roommate.

I’m looking for someone responsible, clean, communicative, and easy to live with. You do not have to be silent or boring. In fact, please do not be aggressively boring. But you do need to pay rent on time, respect shared spaces, clean up after yourself, and communicate like an adult with access to words.

I’ll keep it 100 with you: this is a cozy, lived-in home, not a luxury apartment showroom. But it is clean, comfortable, safe, furnished, convenient, and set up for someone who wants an easy roommate situation without starting from scratch.
