About the room
Wanted by a Longtime Local in Flagstaff:
A One-of-a-Kind Roommate!
In my experience, there are four kinds of roommates:
-
The Ghost – Pays rent. Rarely seen. Eats protein bars in silence and disappears into their room. No mess, no memories.
-
The Tornado – Great energy. Loud. Leaves a trail of granola crumbs and misplaced socks.
-
The Couch Squatter – Brings a friend. Then another. Then their “creative” partner. Suddenly, it’s a co-working space with burnt popcorn.
-
The Ideal Roommate – Appreciates peace, beauty, warm lighting, well-designed spaces, mountain views, and a little bit of chit-chat. Occasionally helps water plants. Respects the shared cheese drawer. Shares on interesting topics while coffee is brewing or while dishing up a stir fry. Can handle my dated vernacular. Likes to chat a little bit each day, but independent. Informed and somewhat liberally humorous on current events.
I’m looking for #4. This place? It’s not quite a gem, but really nice! It isn’t a Craigslist special with cinder block walls and a leftover bean bag, but there are some cosmetic imperfections and some might think the cabinets are dated. BUT, this is a Flagstaff west-side treasure—no through traffic, large flat driveway (read: rare), and killer views of the San Francisco Peaks from the deck, kitchen and dining area. Your potential sanctuary comes with: – A plant-filled south-facing atrium with lots of overgrown Geraniums. You can add to the lot! – A radiant-heated interior with a flagstone fireplace that knows how to host a cold evening. – Ceiling fans in every room. – A bedroom that can stay as-is or transform to fit your vibe (bed, full sofa + ottoman = in storage and available). – High-end linens, towels, and cookware. The kind of place where you feel like a guest at a boutique lodge, but you pay rent instead of resort fees. – A kitchen that actually makes you want to cook. And a deck with seating zones so good, you’ll forget WiFi exists. This is not a party house, ut your haven. It’s been home to high-altitude athletes, Flagstaff Medical Center professionals, and those who understand the value of silence after 10 p.m. You’ll be living with a semi-retired interior designer, former Airbnb Superhost, and Flagstaff lifer who would like someone that has balance, I.e. sits down to chat a bit and share a few of life’s ups and downs, but isn’t looking for someone to party with. I can point you to the trails, secret viewpoints, and coffee that won’t break your soul. Hospital? Close. NAU? Closer than you think. Urban Trail? Out the back door. Sanity? Preserved.
I am semi-retired, and have had a few setbacks, so help with snow removal and a cheerful demeanor when we see each other will mean the world to me!
If you’re thoughtful, responsible, and love living in a nice West-Side home close to Forest Service, Snowbowl etc., and can help a bit I.e, water plants, helping me rake some pine needles, this might just be your next chapter. Write in polite confidence. Tell me what you’re looking for and what kind of roommate you are. Ghosts and couch squatters need not apply.
About the roomies
Semi-retired interior designer and former AirBnB Super-Host. I have rented both via AirBnB and Furnished Finder, and now on Roomies. I am a long time local and know information about sightseeing, bike and hiking trails and all things Flagstaff. I am 65 and a bit of a home-body, but might end up making cookies or banana bread for us both, lol!
