Hello! I’m looking for a clean and respectful roommate to join myself and one other roommate in a spacious Astoria apartment. The apartment is 3 bedrooms, with 1.5 baths.
Lease runs from August 1 to July 31 and rent is $1,133 per month. Rent is split equally between the roommates as each room has its own perk. Utilities typically run around $70-150 depending on the time of year (more expensive in the summer when running the AC).
APARTMENT SPECS
Available room: Large room with ample space for furniture
The apartment is huge, with a separate living room, dining room, and kitchen. There are two closets in the hallway which we use for storing coats and cleaning supplies, respectively. There is also a balcony off the dining room, overlooking the front driveway. The common areas of the apartment will be fully furnished with a dining table, pull-out sofa, and TV + stand. The living room is quite large so if you have something like a loveseat or bar cart, it will definitely fit! There is plenty of space for wall art as well. Please note that the bedroom will be unfurnished.
LOCATION + NEIGHBORHOOD
The apartment is a 6-minute walk to 46th Street station (M/R trains) and just over a 20-minute walk to Broadway station (N/W trains). There are also various bus lines in close proximity.
The neighborhood is quiet and pretty without being secluded from busier areas. Astoria is well-known for its excellent food scene and community vibe. We are only a 12-minute walk from the big box stores on Northern Boulevard (Home Depot, H Mart, Marshall’s) but there are a variety of locally-owned and NYC-specific chains in the area as well.
COST
Costs to move in will include the following:
First month’s rent: $1,133
Security deposit: $1,133
Broker’s fee: $1,133
So, the total upfront costs will be $3,399.
Landlord requires proof of income and a credit report.
Unfortunately, no pets. No couples, please.
NOTE: The landlord does come by the property every few weeks or so to work on some task in the garage or the garden (he owns the entire building). He does have a dog, Shadow, who is a very sweet boy, but he is a large dog and he is a bit aloof when you first meet him. Shadow is not allowed in the building but he will often be outside snoozing on the driveway when the landlord is on the property. Sometimes he will bark loudly at other dogs who are walking by.
