About the room
The property is a quiet and walkable area near several grocery stores, pharmacies, and parks. There’s on-site and nearby parking as well as attentive maintenance. You’ll get your own parking space with your room. There are also multiple bus stops very close by.
You’ll get your own bedroom and your own (recently renovated) bathroom. The apartment also has a spacious porch with a good view, a dishwasher, and an in-unit washer and dryer.
The apartment is multiple stories up for additional security. Unfortunately, it’s wheelchair-inaccessible due to lacking on-site elevators.
About the roomies
I’m an artist who works and studies from home. I’m looking for a roommate who will accommodate my health needs, such as sometimes masking in the apartment (for example, when sick), consistently cleaning up after themselves, and taking off shoes before entering. If this isn’t something you want to do, please don’t contact me. Let’s find a rooming situation that works for everybody.
The room cost doesn’t include Internet or electricity, but I’m looking at an additional $50 flat fee per month to split costs, so $600 total for rent and bills.
While I prefer women roommates, non-binary and genderfluid roommates are welcome. I’m also fluent in American Sign Language and am happy to meet with a potential Deaf or HoH roommate.
Overall, I’m easygoing, private, and quiet. I keep to myself, sometimes make meals in my room, and don’t need to be reminded to clean up or maintain the place. You’ll rarely see me in the day-to-day because I’m buried in work or personal projects, so if you’ve always wanted a cryptid as a roommate, now’s your chance. My home office is also completely separate from the common spaces.
I’m not interested in a long-term rooming situation and would prefer a roommate who needs a shorter stay, such as eight months, a year, or maybe a year and a half. To keep things flexible, you’ll need to sign a month-to-month lease so neither of us are locked into a longer-term living situation if it doesn’t work out.
This room could be a great fit for:
- part-time or full-time students who need a quiet space to study or do remote learning
- part-time or full-time on-site workers who need a chill place where they can kick back and unwind after a long day
- remote and hybrid employees or freelancers who need a private space to work
- people with disabilities who need health accommodations
- geeks, gamers, and artists who want a peaceful environment to enjoy their craft/hobbies
I’d rather not have animals, but am open to a strictly indoor cat depending on a few factors. You’ll have to pay a one-time pet deposit and get pet insurance (if you don’t have it already). I’ll also consider other animals like fish, snakes, hamsters, or a beloved pet rock. Complex no longer allows dogs.
We won’t be a good fit if you:
- want to party (the complex has strict noise curfews)
- have a dog
- want to invite friends, a spouse, or family over (again, I work from home!)
- aren’t able/willing to meet my health needs
- want to be friends (nothing wrong with wanting to befriend your roommate, but I’ll stay an acquaintance)
- want to smoke weed or cigarettes inside or near the apartment (complex doesn’t allow it)
If you’re interested, reach out anytime. I’ll have to ask you a few questions about your monthly income, credit score, and references before we can chat more about a new rooming situation. I have background checks, apartment photos, and references if we move to the next step.
