The bedroom is 10 x 11.5, is freshly painted, well insulated for sound and temperature, is in a daylight basement with a large window, and goes for $580. It is furnished with a single bed, dresser, desk, chair, a small table and a bedside table. (If you have your own furniture we can work that out.) It has a large wardrobe rather than a closet. You would share the downstairs bathroom with me. We are just a block away from Willamette Blvd. which offers a gorgeous, scenic walk or bike ride along the bluff above the river. This is a nice neighborhood! Utilities are $95 per month which includes some household supplies and Internet. There is also a security deposit of $300. That is a total of $975 to move in. Rent is month to month–no lease–but 30 days’ notice is required for moving out. Only the most minor of pets allowed—no dogs or cats. No guns, no drugs (including pot) and no smoking but moderate alcohol consumption is fine. Everyone has a weekly chore plus shares in cleaning a bathroom. I own the house which is 2500 sq. ft. house with three full bathrooms. We are in the Arbor Lodge Neighborhood in North Portland. The house has central AC, a two-car garage, a basketball hoop, a shop with lots of tools and materials, and most everything a house should have.

The guys here now are Joshua, 38, Jason, 35, and Andrew, 26. We are racially diverse. I am 65 and have lived in 4 different Christian communities for a total of 23 years. I have been a believer for 43 years and am part of Vancouver Vineyard Church. I am retired, spend a lot of time in my recording studio playing jazz and creating a theology YouTube show (youtube.com/@THECHARGEwithDennisMetzler), and am a Portland Seminary graduate.

Right now, out of every 4 or 5 weeks, we meet 2 or 3 Saturday mornings at 10AM and 1 Saturday evening at 6PM and then have 1 Saturday off. On Saturday mornings, we do a short devotional, pray, share what’s going on in our lives, and deal with practical things that arise. The one Saturday evening a month is a social fun time. (The Saturday schedule is preferred but is not set in stone. We schedule those times to fit whoever happens to live in the house.) Our key scripture which sums up our reason for being is Colossians 3:12-15. This is a transformative place to live and I think that all of us can testify that our lives have been changed by living here and being open to Jesus and each other! We are looking for a guy who has dependable income, is responsible, and is truly a follower of Christ (part of a church or looking) and wants to experience the encouragement, love, and joy of Christian fellowship and community.
