About the room

This is a seperate entry, lower level to a 3 story house above with a very vibrant community, gardening, a park with a short trail just next door. With easy access to I-5 and easy bus routes. At the edge of where Shoreline, Mount Lake Terrace, and Lake Forest Park meet! Close to Costco, WinCo, and Safeway. Thriftway within walking distance. Great restaurants and ample street parking and optional paid parking if worked out with the landlord to park right by our door.

We pay rent through Zelle directly to the landlord, he includes a flat rate for water usage in our rent. Pet rent is $35 per pet plus an additional $200 deposit. Parking in our driveway can be arranged for $25/month I believe it was. Electric is separate from rent, we have our own meter, and it is billed every 2 months and so far, we’ve been averaging just under $100/month (each) in electric but running heaters and such so I’m hoping that lessens as the weather stays warmer. We moved in together in the middle of winter so we don’t have much data on how the electric changes yet. Internet is Xfinity $10/month up to 500 Mbps downloads.

The Apartment has a pretty big living room, full kitchen with a dishwasher, dining room alcove/currently used as an office space, an in unit washer dryer, bathroom with a small tub and a handheld shower arm.

This unit has a private entrance with a small patio with privacy fencing. One side of this house get’s ample sunlight perfect for plants and the windows are set in deep with ample room to place decor and plants along the windowsills! The room becoming available is facing North so it’s much cooler and doesn’t get direct sun but it has mirrored sliding doors on the closet. We share a wall but so far we haven’t had much issue with hearing each other make noise like watching movies, listening to music, but voices of a lower timber do seem to resonate and carry a bit more through the walls.

About the roomies

I’m expecting that my roommate will be ready to move out by or before July 1st. I won’t know if it’ll be sooner until she’s moved, so expect July 1st at the earliest.

You would be added on the lease, the landlord has been very understanding about credit history and such, so I’m hoping to find a person that has similar sensory needs and awareness to mine to ensure we have a healthy space with informed consent and healthy boundaries. I’ll help advocate to the landlord to approve if needed.

I’m a Polyam, Kink and Trauma-informed, Queer Autistic + ADHD nonbinary femme. I need a lot of alone time in my room but enjoy scheduling social time to connect in safe and comfortable ways with a roommate. I’m making a post now, with ample time to try to connect and find out if there’s potential roommates who I connect with and can get to know slowly so we have an idea of what we can expect from each other.

I do like to try and keep a tidy space but the things I’m most picky about are keeping up on bathroom cleanliness and kitchen sponge cleanliness. I like to think of cleaning in terms of ‘resetting’ a space (thanks to the book “How to Keep House While Drowning” by KC Davis) and ideally would like to do communal area cleanings together, like a closing shift at a restaurant. (Body doubling can be helpful!) So overall, not too picky in terms of some clutter building up or having a perfect aesthetic though I love plants and thrifted goods. I like recycling and want to make a worm composting bin ASAP. I’d love to collab on a roommate guidelines doc or an excel sheet to track who did what on shared cleaning tasks we do asynchronously. Not for blame, just to know when mental health needs change and so they can be communicated and addressed with support.

It will be just me as the other roommate, our landlord lives upstairs with several other roommates but we don’t hear them much. They’re prompt to respond to repair requests but I get the feeling they’re also ND and some non-urgent requests keep getting forgotten. They have a fire pit outside their front yard we can use if we ask/schedule, the garden can also be used if we ask. I’m growing a lot of plants indoors for now but I’m hoping to grow some legumes and cucumbers (besides my strawberries and possibly some herbs).

I have multiple part time jobs, looking to grow my own businesses as a public notary and graphic designer for a Neurodivergent clothing line I’ve JUST started this month of April. I used to own a business working in equipment sales for cannabinoid extraction services down to a molecular level, I love mechanical processes and biochemical science. I’m friends with mushrooms and other psychoactive compounds though not a ‘party’ type of person.

Let me know what things resonate and any questions you might have! I tried to be thorough!
