About the room

Roommate wanted for a great Parkside apartment. Heat included!

Hey there! I am looking for a roommate to share the great apartment in Parkside where I have lived for the past ten years. The room will be available June 1st.

About the apartment: fully furnished except for the bedroom–comfortable living room with great light throughout the day for reading and relaxing, clawfoot tub in the bathroom, and a kitchen with a gas range. Kitchen is stocked with most essentials which I will happily share. Convenient laundry on site (2 washers and 2 dryers) costs $1.50 per wash and $1.25 per dry cycle. There is a small enclosed storage space in the basement. Unfortunately, the lease currently does not allow pets. I know most of my neighbors, and all of them are kind, thoughtful, polite people! The apartment is right near Deering Oaks (farmer’s market in the summer/ fall!), a 10-minute walk from MECA, 20-minute walk from USM, and just a bit more to UNE.

One great feature of this place is the backyard, which includes 2 large raised garden beds we built during the peak of COVID. For the past four seasons, this has really helped to make the building feel more like a “community,” as residents share the beds to grow vegetables and flowers, and occasionally get together for BBQs, campfires, and other gatherings.

If this sounds like a good fit, I’d love to hear from you! I look forward to having some folks over to see the place within the next couple weeks, so send me a message and I’ll get back to you shortly!

About the roomies

About me: I am a 36 year old male who teaches special education for Portland Public Schools, as well as being in grad school at USM working toward a social work degree. I play music in a local band, but I rent a practice space so you don’t have to worry about loud noise. I live a pretty busy life, and I consider the apartment to be a sanctuary for relaxing and rejuvenating. I am NOT a partier, but occasionally like to have a friend visit for a meal or to watch a movie.

I would love to share this space with a kind and thoughtful person who is a good communicator. It would be a great living situation for a student or professional who leads an active life. If partying is a big part of your lifestyle, it probably would not be a great match. You must have a decent credit score, as the property management company will have to approve that before moving in. Providing past landlord/ roommate references would be a HUGE plus!
