About me: 🧚🏾‍♀️ My name is Myishen. I have been subletting for two years, with my landlord’s permission. I became the sole lease tenant due to the landlord evicted all on the lease except for me. And so here I am. I vowed to make this place safe, comfortable, and a peaceful living space. As far as my capacity. As the Primary tenant, I am the subtenant’s landlord. Anyone coming onboard needs to understand that, as I do provide a sublease. All I ask is that you follow what you sign, and make sure to read before signing. I have a zero tolerance for ableism, yelling at any house member, entering fellow subtenants room without permission, and any other unsafe behavior. The eviction process is the same as for any landlord. I serve a notice signed by the constable. I aim to make sure everyone feels safe here and I take that very seriously.

The House: 🏠 This is a four bedroom house and one bath, in the uptown Freret area. There is one common living room area, a full sized kitchen, a patio, a full sized bathroom, two hallways, and a laundry room. Its an old house. Throughout the course of the two years that I have been subletting, I have made upgrades to the house. I’ve added patio furniture, common area furniture, painted the house in white, yellow and sky blue. I have requested a new oven and washer and was provided that. I decorated the house, including staining the hardwood floors. I added a color LED shower head for a more calming shower at night. I added a stability aid to the bathtub, for anyone that needs extra help getting into it. I installed a mailbox that has a coded lock on it. I also am installing a ring door camera for extra security and safety. It’s a beautiful and safe neighborhood, but it’s always best to be safe just in case. I still have things I want to do, but it’s a work in progress as I do everything on my own. I have a disability and limited mobility at times, so please bear with me. There are three sets of stairs. One set of stairs is outside, the second set is inside, and the third set is in the house leading to the laundry room.

Amenities: 💻 I offer free fiber ATT internet. Utilities are included in rent. Housing supplies are communal and provided by me: toilet paper, dish soap, bleach spray, lysol spray. Everyone gets space in the fridge and plenty of cabinet space for everyone’s dishes, post and pans. Laundry is in the building through the kitchen. I like to do random Saturday breakfast treats for everyone. I’ve also made a “positive affirmation mail” area. The idea is that each day you need to, you can take a card, and when you come home, put it back.

About the room. 🛌 This is the master bedroom. $800/month and $800 deposit. Unless you are evicted, broke your sublease, or you have damaged the room or house in a significant manner, after moving out, you’d receive your deposit within 30 days. But I definitely try to be flexible on things that are not deal breakers (i.e ableism or bullying a fellow subtenant). One picture in the ad shows what the room looks like fully furnished, but the room comes unfurnished. Hanging pictures on the way is okay. Pets are welcomed. They must be okay with medium sized dogs. There is no pet fee. There is a window AC unit that works great for the room.

About us all: 👨🏻‍🦲🧑🏽‍🦱👩🏼🧑🏿‍🦱 Living here is my partner, Seth, Casper Kylie, and me. Ily is leaving due to a cat allergy. She thought it would be fine since it’s mild. It turns out that she is unable to handle the cats. So unfortunately, if you have any cat or dog allergy, even if you think it may work, I can’t take the risk. The house is a queer, trans, and neurodivergent house. I am queer, Casper is queer, Kylie is a trans woman, and Casper, Seth and I are neurodivergent. I am autistic. We are also a mixed race house. We believe in allyship, and understanding between all demographics.
