About the room

The second largest room in what’s being rented as a 3 bedroom apartment. The closet is on the smaller side, but has a shelf and a bar for hanging clothes. Has ~4 electrical outlets, and 2 windows. One window is missing a screen. It’s off of the kitchen, near the bathroom, and away from the other rooms in that sense. It currently holds: a long dresser, a standing dresser, two tall bookshelves, a small bookshelf, a queen bed, a small table, a toy chest, 2 standing lamps, a trash barrel, a mini fridge, a standing shelf unit, and a smaller plastic shelf unit. There’s gas? Baseboards? It’s very weird. They’re baseboard radiators.

The kitchen is of medium to large size, however it’s lacking in both counter and storage space. It has three large cabinets for dishes, and there are 3 doors to a large under sink area. There’s space next to the sink to place a drying rack and not much else. There’s a door to the porch and back hallway. There’s also a pantry, which has shelves on the upper sides on both the left and the right. There’s also enough counter space in there for a blender, a Mr. Coffee pot, two knife blocks, two electric kettles, and a small jar holding straws. This space has a 2 door entry cabinet with a shelf on floor level and the only drawer in the kitchen, which is wide enough for a standard silverware divider and a set of the wooden plastic bag storage dividers. There’s also hooks on the wall to hang pots. The actual kitchen itself has a gas stove, a fridge, a defunct closet that is awaiting a fix that has a box for the electric (but it runs off of fuses in the basement?), and can fit a table w/ 4 chairs, a sort of standing storage unit, and a chest freezer. (The last bits of which are leaving with us)

The bathroom has a toilet, small sink with a storage mirror (3 panels, shallow), a toilet paper holder on the wall, a clawfoot tub, a small heater unit, and a window. The electrical outlet is in the upper middle of the wall halfway through the room. It also? Has a door that leads to the smallest room in the house that’s going to be more recently filled. Could be a privacy issue, and you would have to discuss with the roommates about that.

There’s what we call a living room but its small. It’s big enough for a card table, a small futon couch, a small desk, and a small bookshelf. That’s pretty much it. The other two rooms are off this room, next to the door is the small room that has the weird bathroom door, and then toward the window is the other room, the largest one. The whole apartment heating is controlled by the console in the small middle room where there will be a person living.

The porch is the length of the living room to the kitchen, and wide enough for 2? To stand abreast. It’s fairly secure, and as someone who is totally scared of heights and porches, I’m not afraid unless I’m at the railing bc heights. It has hooks for laundry lines, which we do have string up and can leave, though I think we are taking the clothespins. Sorry about that. Unfortunately you can’t have a bird feeder because the squirrels around here are next level???

The utilities are gas (heat and cooking)+electric (y’know) via unitil. Unfortunately we will need someone else to open an account in their name as we have been having it in our name alongside our info for the rate. If you have mahealth and EBT, they offer special rates, and if you have life support needs a Dr. Can fill out a form to keep the power from being able to be disconnected. Internet(and cable if you want that ig) is from Comcast, don’t know if others are allowed in the place. This room gets…kinda bad wifi on smaller devices. We qualified for an Xpod or whatever for an extender into the room, but again, we are moving the Internet out of our name and theoretically needing it to be restarted in someone else. This does mean an opportunity for New User deals?

The unit is on the second floor, and does have a doorbell. We aren’t taking that, but the doorbell itself will theoretically need a new battery at some point, and has a plug to power the receptor plugged in the living room (that’s also where the internet box is currently). There’s a mailbox on the side of the neighbor’s door, and they have cameras so packages are fairly safe. The old man is a smoker though, so be aware. The lights in the rooms on the ceiling are like. LED or smth?

There is shared parking in a dirt lot, or in front of the house if there’s room on the street. Trash is every Monday, and biweekly recycling. There’s labelled bins next to the house. Cannot guarantee if the neighbors will continue dragging barrels to and from the curb across the street. There’s no laundry in the building, open to selling the small (11lb max) mini washer (and metal indoor drying rack) thats in the kitchen, which can wring clothes nearly dry through 2 spin cycles. It would be a shared fixture, so probably would ask a max of $150, because the machine cost either $250-$315 when it was bought. I can’t recall how much exactly, since it was also shipped from Amazon it had a shipping fee on top of that.

We currently have a cat in the apartment, so there may be lingering allergens to be aware of. It’s coming with us though.

Since we own almost all the things in the apartment, which includes the microwave and toaster, someone in the apartment will probably want to replace those. You probably should bring a lot of your own dishes, cookware, etc. since almost all of them are ours. Same as basically all the furniture in the building;;

About the roomies

The current roommate situation: a vet tech, nonbinary and like idk 30s or 40s I kinda forget, uses she/they. Works a hell of a lot, has 2 guinea pigs, and needs her privacy ofc, but pretty non invasive as a person. They are gluten free, they have Celiac, so while there’s no issue having it around, please be aware of cross contamination wrt open food near their food. I think occasionally drinks? But doesn’t seem to drink in public spaces.

The other, newer, roommate (not sure her move in?) is a younger trans woman, not sure her age or profession, but she seems chill enough. Apparently quiet and a little forgetful. Ymmv, but if I get a better feel I will update.
