Nicely furnished rooms and full use of this 104yo mostly renovated house which has been an Airbnb for the last four years. Many people have said how peaceful the house is and they sleep well here. :-) (I’m a “Superhost,” so feel free to look up the reviews. I’m trying to transition away from doing Airbnb to having some nice housemates so I’m not always tied down to the house.) I’ll be renting out three rooms, but for another couple of months, the other two have temporary tenants. (One came as Airbnb guest. I’m including pics of those two in case you’re looking for 1-2 months down the road.) The one that is currently available is my fave. The “Blue Suite” comes with a separate office space and a queen-size bed. It’s $800 (all utilities included plus high-speed internet). The other two will be $700 for the mid-size room with the double bed and $600 for the smaller room with the twin bed, desk and balcony over-looking the back yard. Speaking of which, there’s a nice deck and peaceful back yard. Great large kitchen. Some limited storage. Nice shared bathroom. (Hasn’t been a problem so far since we haven’t had bathroom hogs. ;-) But there is a toilet in the basement in case it’s tied up. Will be adding a second shower to the basement later this year.) You must like cats. I have two indoor outdoor cats who were rescues. They’re not underfoot, but will take any attention you’d want to give them. Convenient location in north central Detroit near Woodward (2.5 blocks), one mile north of Grand Blvd, near the Lodge/I-10 and close to I-75. Safe area, so far in my 7 years here, though like many Detroit neighborhoods, there is a mix of well-maintained houses and some rundown and empty ones. There’s street parking. I’m ok with month-to-month, especially towards the start while we’re deciding if it feels like a good fit.

I’m a youthful boomer. And, I’m fairy chill, although I do need other long-term housemates who share some of the same values. For those who do, this would be a great place for them.
I’m a liberal professionally involved with Team Blue and progressive efforts. (I prefer other people who care about what’s going on, as I need to keep hope alive and don’t do well around passiveness or cynicism.) It’s a “green” household, so others need to be on board with recycling and composting and energy consciousness. I’m mostly vegetarian, so folks here need to be ok with not cooking red meat in the house. (I do occasional fish and free-range poultry.) And I do TNR homeless cat rescue of those who’ve shown up in my backyard (TNR: Trap, Neuter, Release to try to keep nearby population down) So I feed a handful of sweet but often out of sight, timid cats outside. (Again, I prefer people who like cats, but they’re definitely not all over the house.) And though I love all animals, in order to keep the peace, I prefer not to add another cat to the household. IF you did have one, it would need to be indoor/outdoor, as there’s a very active pet door to the outside for my two I/O cats. I’d want housemates who are game to chip in with pushing the vacuum around and other cleaning in the shared areas. For people who share some of these values, it’s a nice, easy-going place to live where people are welcome to do their own things. We wouldn’t need to spend a lot of time together and be best buddies, but it would be nice to have a friendly rapport and share a meal once in a while and shoot the breeze sometimes.
