About the room

We live in a great neighborhood in Studio City, off of Colfax Ave and Ventura Blvd. We live in a safe, gated complex with steps leading right to the street which usually has lots of parking. Our unit is right across from the gated pool and jacuzzi area, equipped with tables and umbrellas! We have great neighbors in our complex. There is no street traffic noise, and itโ€™s a lovely neighborhood for walking, biking, etc. We are minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, Laurel and Coldwater Canyon, other hiking destinations, Universal Studios, and the Metro Subway.

Both the master bedroom and your room are on the top floor. Entrance and main house are in the middle. My husband has an office leading right into the garage. Unfortunately at this time we cannot offer a space in our garage, but street parking is usually easy right out front (no street cleaning days!).

You will have your own private room and bathroom with a shower/bath combo. The room currently has furnishings, but you can bring in your own if you want. Shared kitchen and dining/living room.

The washer/dryer was moved from the basement to the room we are offering, so you would have to be comfortable with creating a schedule for our own use, as well.

Very rarely I might ask to use the bath, as we only have a shower in our en-suite. We also use the bath to bathe Clara every week or two, since sending her to be groomed is super expensive.

About the roomies

My husband and I have lived in this home for over ten years. Weโ€™ve been together for twenty four years, married for eleven. We moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to L.A. twenty some years ago to pursue acting. We are both over forty. We have silly streaks and try to live in the present and not take life too seriously. We have an adorable soon to be eighteen year old dog, Clara (as pictured). She is intelligent, loving, gentle, and well set in her ways (at 18 I think she deserves to be whatever she wants). My husband is an actor, as well as a manager for a company. We are respectful, spiritual, philosophical, passionate, and compassionate. We are allies, creative, and fun. We met at a stage combat workshop and trained in fight choreography and fight direction for stage and film. My husband is a wonderful, kind, incredibly decent, and all around good guy. Iโ€™m nerdy, love books, movies, tv, art, and music (90s R&B/hip hop is my heart but I listen to everything from NIN to Billie Eilish to Joan Baez). Iโ€™ve been an actor, worked at an art gallery in London, a legal secretary, executive admin, massage therapist, and more. I paint and write, although I have not been able to do much as I have chronic illnesses and am disabled now. I am home almost all the time, and often need space and time alone especially during a flare or migraine.

I am immunocompromised, so Covid conscious/vaccinated is a must, and we ask you do not have friends come over to hangout. If there are upticks in Covid, or there is a bad flu/cold going around, we ask you to take proper precautions like wearing a mask if mandated, and social distancing in our home if you feel you might have been exposed in any way. I understand this might be inconvenient at times, but I have to be very, very careful.

I have been told by everyone who visits our home is a bit of a sanctuary of peace and calm. Some of this is necessary for my debilitating health issues, and some is due to my own nature. If you were to move in, I might ask from time to time about lowering the volume or having certain smells in the home that can trigger migraines.

We watch a lot of shows and movies, and my husband works, takes care of me, and does all of the cooking (heโ€™s kinda awesome). We recycle and would ask you do the same. We believe in being as eco-conscious (and generally open minded and conscious as humans) as possible, given my limitations.

We have a wonderful housekeeper who comes once a week. We will mostly likely sync the laundry schedule to when she comes, but we might need to use the laundry at other times, as well. We will never enter the room without obtaining your permission. If you work during the day, we might take advantage of doing laundry then to cut down on invading your space while you are home. These things are negotiable and I am open to finding solutions with which we all feel comfortable.

If you are willing or qualified to help me out- cooking or shopping, physical therapy/health aide, walking the dog, that kind of thing- I will bring the rent down a bit as a trade for services/help rendered.

We would like a long term tenant, at least a year, but weโ€™ll start with 6 months to see if weโ€™re a good fit. Every situation is different, so I definitely will take that into account. Looking forward to hearing from you!
