Rent - $850 Utilities - Varies slightly by season, usually ~$150/person Security deposit - One month rent Term - The room is available starting March 1, 2024. I am flexible on move in date so I can find the right person! Ideally, I would like to find someone who could commit to a six-month term or longer, but I am open to shorter arrangements.

The room: Large (13.5 x 11.5 ft) and sunny corner bedroom with two windows and full size closet with shelf. You will primarily have the full bathroom to yourself, but we will share the shower/tub. Room can come unfurnished or with a queen size bed w/ bed frame & small table with chairs, dresser, etc. Curtains and black out window blinds already installed.

The house: This place is magical! Friends call it the Fairy House. Mature fig tree and blueberry bushes that produce SO much, growing peach & apple trees & raspberry vines, vegetable garden beds, flower gardens, and space for more. In the spring and summer, the front yard fills with crocuses, tulips, daffodils, and azaleas in bloom. The house is on a well so we don’t have to pay for water. Huge fenced back yard, and a creek running along one side of the property. There is also an outdoor shower! And I keep chickens that provide us with a ton of fresh eggs, which you are always welcome to.

The house has a dishwasher, washer/ dryer, gas stove, hard wood floors, full size bath tub, working indoor fireplace, record player, Roku tv, and both a lovely screened in front porch and a back deck with a grill. The house is pretty much entirely furnished, so this is not a good fit if you have a lot of furniture, but there is also a shed, basement, and attic storage available. Kitchen items (I.e. mugs, instant pot, utensils, etc) can generally be accommodated.

There is free parking at the end of our dead end street in front of the house. We share the driveway of the house with a tenant who lives in a really cute trailer on the property that is rented separately by the landlord.

Location: The road is a dead end (no traffic) and no neighbors on the creek side of the house — it is super peaceful. We are walking distance to the Museum of Life & Science, Northgate Park, Rock Quarry Park, Super Taqueria, Omie’s Coffee Shop, Perfect Lovers coffee & art space, Trosa Thrift Shop and King’s local grocery. Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Costco are all nearby, and it is about 10 min drive to downtown/Whole Foods. Northgate Park is an amazing neighborhood and the house is a 5 minute walk to the Ellerbee Creek Greenway, which is a straight shot to downtown.

Pets: I currently have a 2 year old dog and three chickens. My partner’s cat often visits for the weekend, so we are at max capacity with animals unless they are confined to your room. I would love to find someone who generally likes animals and would be willing to do some paid pet sitting for Polly when I am out of town.
