About the roomies
Hiii I’m Gema( they/them). I’m 30 years old and pretty new to DC and love living in Petworth. Black/ Trans non-binary queer.
I love the arts and have recently been getting into crocheting. For the past 8 years I’ve been making pottery and have a studio space in Alexandria that I frequent whenever I have free time.
Have been teaching for the better part of 8 years and teach Sociology, Literature with a focus on Indigenous and Black history, and Psychology.
Making music and dancing brings me life. If you are trying to make music sometime, let me know! I play the congas, guitar, and bass.
I love basketball, tennis, running, hiking, kayaking, and biking. Anything outdoors I’m down!
Leftist and always willing to talk about politics and community.
Heyyy I’m Scotty (they/them)! I’m 28 and have lived in DC for 6 years. I’m a white, Ashkenazi Jewish, trans and nonbinary, queer, polyamorous, able-bodied, glittery being.
I am a massage therapist and work out of the house! See some pix of the studio below!
Some other things I love to do with my lil self:
-Organizing! I’m an organizer with Palestinian solidarity movements in DC, and also have organized for abolition, unions, and housing issues
-Dancing, acting, and performing! I am in a queer, Yiddish burlesque troupe called the Shmutzik Shmates
-Bodywork and embodied practices! I love giving and teaching people about massage (including my housemates ;) ). I also have a couple years of experience with somatics practices, and am very interested in how we can use bodywork and somatics to help people heal trauma that’s held in our bodies.
-Hosting creative community bashes! For my birthday party this past year, my friends and I created a play in 2 hours, complete with live music, sets, costumes, and makeup
-Rock climbing! I climb with a group of silly little pebbles at Movement Crystal City a few times a week.
-Makeup, jewelry, and fashion! I love dressing up for no reason, sharing clothes, and helping people explore their gender and bodies with fashion and makeup
-Playing music! I play alto saxophone and love playing jazz and jamming with others.
