Hi, everyone! I’m looking for a COVID-CAUTIOUS roommate to fill a room in Hillcrest that’s going to become available in early March. The room in question is available in Apartment A, on the first floor. There are two entrances to the apartment, one on the front porch (up a small set of stairs) and one through the back alleyway. The apartment features a full kitchen with modern appliances (gas range, dishwasher, sink with garbage disposal, refrigerator with ice machine) and a large shared pantry space, a sizable shared bathroom with modern fixtures, and an open-floor-plan dining room/living room area. Your bedroom features a large overhead storage area, as well as closet space shared between the two bedrooms (we currently have a divider installed between the two in order to split closet space). The apartment features plenty of sunlight, and is located just a block away from shops and restaurants.

Laundry is outside, free (not coin-op), and shared between the three apartments in the building. The unit includes a shared outdoor parking space in the back - with my previous roommate, we traded use of the parking space month to month, and I’d like to continue that practice with my new roommate. There’s plenty of non-metered street parking available nearby on off months. I love animals (especially cats), so pets are welcome!

Rent is $1375 per person per month, increasing to $1425 in May. Gas, electric and broadband Internet will be split between the two of us.

Hi! I’m Rachel, 39, a trans woman living and working out of my home in Hillcrest. I have a stable, full-time job working from home (I’ve been with the same company for nearly ten years), and otherwise I’m a bit of a homebody. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, brewing tea, composing music, playing video games, and spending time with my partner. I’m in a long-term relationship with my partner Elle, and we trade off long weekends between her place and mine. (In other words, she’ll be over for three or four days every other week, and I’ll be gone completely from the apartment for that long every other week.)

What am I like to live with? Well, I like to keep a pretty clean place, but I’m not a “clean freak,” and I’d prefer that you be on that level as well. Generally speaking, I’d prefer that we split chores between the two of us. I’m pretty reasonably quiet - I generally keep noise confined to my room, and I can always throw on headphones if something is bothersome. When elle is over, we tend to keep to my room unless we’re making food, using the bathroom, or (occasionally) playing a board game or something out in the living room.

About my COVID precautions: I use a 3M Aura 9210+ N95 mask any time I’m indoors, or when I’m outdoors in any place that people congregate. I tend to avoid large crowds, especially indoors, wherever possible, though I do run periodic errands (grocery shopping, doctor’s appointments) while masked. I keep my social life pretty small and ensure that anyone I see in person/unmasked has isolated and taken a molecular (PCR or home e.g. Metrix) text beforehand to be safe.
