About the room

One bedroom available, late March/April 2024! (current occupant is moving between 3/15 and 4/1 and the lease is a takeover through 9/1 with a chance to renew). It’s a 3bed/1bath 1st floor unit (1+7 steps from street) in a 3-floor Victorian on a very quiet street between Davis Square and Powder House (about an 8-minute walk to the Red Line; 10-minute walk to the Green Line Extension), with hardwood floors, lots of morning sunshine, and a spacious backyard (with grill). $1140/mo for rent (not including utilities); 1st month + security deposit to move in.

The available room is the front bedroom, with bay windows; it’s about 177 sq ft (13’4“x11’ without the bay windows section, which adds another couple of feet of depth and is 92“ wide at the middle window), with a magnolia shading your view of the street. The apartment has a large dine-in kitchen with a gorgeous 5-burner gas stove, lots of storage space, and several cookbooks. Common space also includes a big living room, a roomy front porch, and an entryway with a coat closet and lots of space for shoes.

Free washer and dryer in basement (down 12 steps). Space to park bikes in garage.

Currently we share nearly all our food and cooking equipment, with informal communal dinners once or twice a month, and lots of unstructured socializing around the kitchen table — conversation topics include linguistics, social justice, and whatever pieces of SF/F media we’re currently excited about. We’d like someone who’s interested in hanging out and making this a home, not just a place to sleep.

About the roomies

Current residents are two nerdy feminist folks, one late 20s, one late 30s, an artist and engineer, who enjoy social dancing, video games, and want a more kind and just world. We are queer- and polyam-friendly, accommodating of neurodivergence, and a COVID-conscious household. We hope you are, too!

K (he/him) is a transmasculine freelance illustrator who enjoys tabletop rpgs, video games, music, and baking. He’s also the proud owner of a fish tank and main caretaker for our little betta fish and mental health friend, Antonio. Will rarely have people over, generally hosts long-distance friends and siblings once or twice a year.

L (she/her) is a software engineer, puzzler, and linguistics enthusiast. She’s willing to help co-host occasional house parties, but otherwise tends to have at most one or two people over from time to time.

You are community-minded, respectful, and generally know how to live independently; you enjoy good company, bad puns, fresh pancakes and brownies. Must be respectful of other folks’ identities and choices. Any age, race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, etc. welcome. No smoking (of any sort), no cats/dogs. Other small pets might be allowed with landlady’s permission.

If you’re interested, please reply with a little bit of info about yourself, including what you’re looking for in a home, important questions, and something you love to cook and/or eat.
