Hello, I work with a medical device company in Franklin Lakes, NJ. I am looking for accommodation that is placed in a better location.
Roommate looking in: Ridgewood, Bergen County, NJ.
One private room is available in an apartment of 2 bed 1 bath. Bathroom is shared with roommate. A twin-size bed, medium-sized desktop table and shelves are present in the room. No other furniture is present in room. Living room is spacious.
Address is 145 N 9th St. Location is in Chinatown neighborhood in downtown Philadelphia and is thus very convenient. Nearby Reading Market has lots of grocery shops. Lots of restaurants are nearby. 20 minutes car drive to PHL airport, SEPTA bus stops are close and so is the MFL train line. 14 minutes drive (or half-an-hour bus rides) to Walmart.
Rent is $750 plus utilities ($50 most months; up to $75 during winter months). Security deposit is $750. WiFi and laundry (both washer and dryer) are included. This is very affordable for downtown Philly.
If you have a car, you will need to get a parking permit (I donโt have a car so I donโt know the exact price, but I think it is ~$200).
If you do choose to stay, you will have to sign a lease with the landlord (not the roommate). She will ask for a background plus credit check and references. Current lease ends in June 2024.
My roommate is a pediatrics resident and so has a very busy schedule with long days and frequent oncalls. My roommate is very clean and the landlord is also strict on cleanliness, so you will have to take care of the overall cleanliness of the shared spaces and your room. Both my roommate and the landlord are very reliable.
My roommate is currently not sure whether he is going to stay at this apartment next year since his contract with his clinic has not been finalized yet (he will get confirmation in March). Irrespective if he does not stay beyond June, you can decide whether you want to get a roommate of your own or move out after June.
About myself: I am an engineer working contract jobs with a consultancy. I moved in to this apartment in August 2023 after seeing an ad on Roomies. My contract ended last month. I got a new job in New Jersey and so I am moving out.
If you do decide to move in, we can speak about the move-in date since I have not moved all my stuff out yet. My roommate will prorate the monthโs rent according to your date of move-in.
