My brother Jake (35) and I, Alisse (37), are looking for a new roommate to join our three bedroom apartment home. This is for one unfurnished room in a legal mother-in-law apartment (sub-basement style). Cross streets are 30th Ave NE and NE 87th St. We are a few blocks away from the main street in Wedgwood which has cafes, restaurants, etc and the 65 bus line (goes to UW) and the neighborhood is quiet with lots of HUGE TREES!
Move-in and lease duration:
- Room is available now! Move-in/start-paying-rent date is flexible.
- You would be added onto our current lease which goes through May 31, 2024. In May, assuming we are offered a lease renewal, the three of us will check in and see about signing a longer (year-long) lease together.
The cash money:
- Rent: $650 per month (includes water/sewer/gas) plus your third of the electric bill – budget $20-$40 (our highest electric bill was $95/month total for all three of us).
- One-time refundable security deposit: $400
- Landlord situation: They are the BEST LANDLORDS all of us have ever had. They live in the main house, above us, and have two young kids – you can hear them sometimes.
The space:
- Room is on the smaller side and will be unfurnished; see photos with queen-size bed for scale. Sorry I can’t really take better photos of the room. Hopefully you get the idea :)
- There is ample street parking in our block for you if you need it. Free and unzoned!
- There is a lot of space in the garage for bikes, other storage, etc.
- There is a dishwasher, a laundry room with a sink and washer and dryer, and some extra storage closets.
- We have a small backyard (primarily north-facing) with a fire pit.
Our home:
- A quiet, peaceful house with open communication. We enjoy being generous and offering snacks or meals to each other when we can, and we share things like butter, olive oil, spices.
- Organized and considerate roommates: we clean up in the kitchen after ourselves, we keep our stuff in the garage organized, we are cognizant not to take up more than fair share of space in the fridge/freezer, we lock the doors and garage 100% of the time when no one is inside.
- We like to keep shared spaces pretty darn clean!
- This should go without saying but we are open to people of any identity!
You’ll need to complete a rental application for the landlords and I’ll send the details about what will be required via email. We love animals but landlords say no cats or dogs.
Interested? Send us an email telling us about yourself, your usual daily and weekly schedule, and why you think you’d make a good fit here. Thanks for reading through to the end!
