About the room

Looking for a housemate to share cute, comfortable home in Seward neighborhood, starting February 1st or sooner. Move-in date is flexible. Female roommate preferred but open to roommates of other genders. Lease is already secured for this 3-story home with a fenced-in backyard and off-street parking. Space available for home office for WFH if needed. You will be sharing the home with myself–middle-aged woman who loves the outdoors–and my two pets–dog Bardo and cat Jasmine. $975/month in rent plus utilities and security deposit 1 year commitment preferred with option to renew lease for longer

About the space: The house is 3 stories with an enclosed front porch and newly updated with lots of windows and hardwood floors. Your room would be on the first floor with private en-suite half bath. Bedroom is a decent size with two windows and enough space to fit a full bed and dresser. Lots of closet space. Shared full bath is on the second floor and bedrooms are also separated from each other by a level. Shared common space is mostly furnished but space can be arranged for your furnishings. The shared spaces are cute and cozy and include: living room and dining room, front porch, large kitchen, tv room, entry hall, yard, laundry room and basement. The basement includes a finished flex room that could be a private space for you and become a home office or separate living room as needed. There is a fenced in backyard and open front yard with beautiful trees in both yards and a compost bin. Washer/dryer in house. Parking space available in driveway. Room for bicycle storage and other items in garage. The location is perfect with the West River Parkway and the river just around the corner, lots of parks in the neighborhood, and walking distance from Seward Co-op!

About the roomies

About me: You would be living with me, Sara–a nature-loving, overall-wearing middle-aged woman. I love animals and have a dog (Bardo) and a cat (Jasmine) both of whom are very friendly and quiet. I’m an LGBTQ ally and a mom of three adult children–two of whom live in Minneapolis and stop by for occasional day visits. I work full time at a hospital as a recreational therapist. I’m a vegetarian and often cook simple meals. I enjoy an occasional glass of wine and am a nonsmoker. I have an eye for decoration and love to make a house feel like a home. I’m a Minnesotan but new to Minneapolis, having just moved into this home at the start of January. The house was too idyllic to pass but too big for just me, so I’m looking for a roommate to help me enter my Grace & Frankie / Golden Girls era. Break out the cheesecake! I would describe myself as friendly, active, social and welcoming while also prioritizing my housemate’s and my own privacy and independence. It is important to me that home is a safe atmosphere and comfortable for all to feel they can decompress and express themselves.

About you: I would love a roommate who would enjoy evening chats over dinner, card games, cribbage or glass of wine but also feels comfortable with privacy and time separate as needed. I would prefer to live with another woman but open to roommates of other genders as well. All ages welcome! Bonus if you are also a Grace & Frankie fan! Must be comfortable with animals. Pets are okay if your pet is well-behaved and good with both other cats and dogs. No couples please. No smoking or vaping. It is important that you are clean and respectful of the shared space in our home. Overall, I’m looking for someone who is friendly, kind, and interested in contributing to creating a cozy, safe home atmosphere that feels collaborative, communal and comfortable to us both.

If you are interested, please reach out to me (Sara) and share a little about yourself (gender, age, pets, work, fun facts, etc) and we can chat further. Thank you!
