The following is written by my Roommate Hilary: Hi there, I’m a thoughtful, friendly, and mature (late 30’s) female seeking a very considerate and tidy roommate for my apartment this February. I’m looking for a highly responsible person to cosign the lease. Technically the room will be available until the end of July 2024 (possibly longer, but that isn’t guaranteed yet. I’ll be applying to teaching jobs, and if I’m hired locally, I may possibly renew). The apartment comes fully furnished, including dishes and appliances for your use. House is located on State St. in New Haven, near Hamden line. Minutes from the I-91 ramps, 2.5 miles from town green, 3 miles from YNNH, St. Raphael’s, and directly on CT Transit Line (M Bus). Walking distance to East Rock Park and Pardee Rose Garden. This spacious 2-family brick townhouse has bamboo floors, stone tiled kitchen floor, custom kitchen, two bathrooms & guaranteed off-street parking. The apt. also has washer & dryer in basement, large yard, patio area, enough storage for a bike, and a relatively safe neighborhood. The apartment can get a little loud, due to being on a main street, and probably isn’t the best for people who are really noise-sensitive. (However, I’m happy to provide a couple fans and/or white noise machine). You’re also welcome to put an AC unit in your bedroom in the summer, if desired.

Your room comes furnished w/ a full-sized bed, desk and bureau. I’m happy to show you the apartment soon. This is a three bedroom apartment. One male (nice postdoctoral guy who works at Yale) will be living here until the end of July. Many good roommates have resided with me in the past and I’m looking forward to more… I’d prefer to live with a serious student or working professional. (Good credit/background and no prior eviction history). International and Yale students welcomed! I’m a good cook and will occasionally make you a little food, if desired. Also, I’m sensitive to synthetic fragrance, so prefer that eco-based cleaning supplies are used here, which I’m happy to provide. I appreciate privacy and personal space, and looking for a roommate that is respectful of boundaries. The total rent for this 3-bedroom is $1650/month, and the requested amount is $600 plus 1/3 utilities. Your requested portion of the security deposit is $1000. The landlord is a good guy.
