In the coming months (date is still fluid) I will have a two bedroom suite available for rent at 1000$ per month with utilities included. My home was built in 1899, and I am the 5th generation of my family to occupy the home and it sits on our farm which is around 40 acres in land. It’s currently undergoing restoration and I am hoping to finish my work in the coming months but it is a slow process, none the less I wanted to connect with people who could be interested and provide early advertising.
Off the kitchen area is a butler’s staircase which would be your own private entrance that leads to two rooms which I am renting out as one unit, and includes your own bathroom space. You can use these two rooms as your living space and bedroom. You have one walk in closet, as well as one regular closet.
These two rooms are connected through the staircase and entirely private from the rest of the house with the exception of one additional door that would leave to my office which I will have locked given I have access to it from the main staircase.
You will have access to the kitchen and will be free to cook and store your food and have access to the mudroom of the home that is the primary entrance as your common areas. The remainder of the home I would like to keep to myself given you have your own bathroom as well as living space.
The property is walking distance to Raffia Plaza which houses a Dunkin Donuts, a liquor store, a convenience store, a pizza restaurant and other local shops. Around 5 to 10 minutes away to major highways as well as Elm Street and Hazard Avenue.
About Me: I am 21 years old and study at the University of Connecticut for Education. Additionally I work as a substitute teacher in neighboring Longmeadow and Somers, and am very active in local government being an elected official and on numerous local boards. I am often out and about during the weekdays and tend to be more frequently at home on the weekends. I anticipate having guests once in a while on the weekends as I enjoy hosting dinner for friends and family as well as occasionally some cocktails and movies. These are relatively quiet affairs and would inform of them in advance, there is no real partying occurring at my home, most of my friends and family are older. I do not cook often, and visit other family and friends for dinner if I am not cooking for others who are coming to visit, when I do it’s usually for a group of people.
About You: I am looking for an individual(s) who shares that more reserved and peaceful outlook when they are at home. I do not mind if you have guests, nor if they are occasionally overnight. However if they are more of a “second tenant” or you are a couple which I would be open to, I’d want to discuss a slightly higher rent to cover the increased utilities. I also would prefer someone who does not cook on the daily. There will be no smoking in the home, and no large pets like dogs or cats (if you have small pet like a rabbit, mouse, guinea pig etc) we can discuss. Also no children.
The photos of the rooms are the most recent I have but the carpet in the room with the desk is no longer there and the hardwood is currently being refinished. These rooms will be unfurnished for you entirely. Though if you need furniture, I may have some for you.
