About the Room

The size of the room is approximately 13 ft x 10.5 ft, with northern and western-facing windows equipped with wooden blinds. It has a closet with 3 sliding doors. The room is carpeted, located on the third floor, and the bathroom is shared with one other person (A, see below). The room will be available starting on February 1, 2024. The lease is for 1 year, and the rent is $1302. Deposit is the cost of one month’s rent.

About the House

3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom townhouse on the border of Oakland and Emeryville, located on a private, gated street.

There is a washer and dryer in-unit, and all utilities are included in rent (PG&E, water, garbage, etc.), except for internet, which is currently $20 per person but may be more/less depending on if we get a new contract with Xfinity.

Additionally, there is also a single-car garage attached to the house (it’s where the in-unit washer/dryer is), along with about 10 private parking spots adjacent to the house, available to residents of the street. There is also street parking available outside of the gates with bi-monthly to monthly street sweeping. Street parking has more consistent parking availability than the parking spots inside the gated community. Both of us have cars and currently switch off on who parks in the garage. However, if you want exclusive use of the garage, it’s available for an additional $90/mo.

Our living room is furnished and we have a kitchen (with a dishwasher!) that’s basically stocked with everything (cookware, cooking utensils, mugs/bowls/plates/utensils/etc.) and we also have a bunch of appliances (microwave, air fryer, KitchenAid stand mixer, Vitamix) that we all share and you’re free to use too (as long as you take care of it).

About the Location

We are in a great location!

Proximity to stores:

• ~15 minute walk to Bay Street in Emeryville
• ~20 minute walk to Powell Street Plaza (Trader Joe’s/Daiso/Ross/etc.) in Emeryville
• 3 blocks from Arizmendi/Wingstop/KFC
• 1 block from Papa John’s, a taqueria, and a donut shop
• ~15 minute walk to Nordstrom Rack/Ulta, along with all of the stores/eateries along 40th Street (Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc.) - take the free shuttle (Emery-Go-Round) to access them all!
• Closest grocery stores are Pak N Save (Safeway), Berkeley Bowl West, Trader Joe’s

Transit:

• Across the street from AC Transit 72 bus stop
• 25-minute walk to MacArthur BART but about a ~10-minute walk to the closest Emery-Go-Round shuttle stop, which takes you to the MacArthur BART station for free

Your gateway to the bay:

• 5 minutes to southern Berkeley, 15 minutes to San Francisco (no traffic)
• When driving back from the city, take the first exit off of the Bay Bridge (580 or 80)

A, 28F, works in learning & development at a media organization in SF. Generally in-office 3 days a week (T/W/Th), works remote on M and F. A has lived in the house since summer 2019. A loves cooking/baking, traveling, being outdoors (camping + going to national parks), and has music-related hobbies (collecting vinyl, going to concerts, etc.)

P, 27F, works in academic advising at UC Berkeley. Generally in-office 3 days a week (M/T/W), works remote on Th and F. P has lived in the house since early 2021. P likes crafting, reading, and going on hikes.

Who we are looking for

• Femme identifying, WOC preferred
• Mid-late 20s preferred
• No pets, landlord’s policy :(
• No couples (if you plan on having your partner over all the time, that counts too especially since it’s a shared bathroom and the current housemates are homebodies)
• Someone who DOES NOT have people over all the time
• Someone who is mindful about cleaning (A&P have been friends since college so there’s a lot of care we approach the household dynamic with)

We are looking for someone who is clean, respectful, communicative, transparent about issues when they arise, and wants to hang out with us! Although we are both introverts and totally respect personal time too. :) We might have friends or family over from time to time but generally see the house as a place to recharge.
