About the room

Hi there!

My name is Sean and I have a small, 10.5 x 10 foot room available for an ASAP or December 1st move-in at my 2 bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Rent is $650 and utilities are generally fairly inexpensive, depending on heat and shower use. We do not pay water, which is an unbelievable savings, but I try to be generally sustainable in my use anyway, for environmental reasons. Internet runs about $80 and electric is generally between $60 and $90, split down the middle. There is a full-sized, extra closet in the hallway, with shelves, that you are welcome to use for extra storage, if you need it.

(By the way, my current room is much larger, 16’ x 11’, with 2 closets, and I’d be willing to rent it out at $840 and down-size to the smaller room, if that’s a better fit for you.)

I also have a “grandfathered-in” parking pass that allows unlimited use of the complex parking lot, but I since I don’t own a car and am not planning to get one, I’m willing to throw in use of that pass along with the room. Parking is not guaranteed, and there are more passes than spaces, but street parking is not too bad usually if the lot is full. (If for some reason I get a car at some point, I’d need to take the pass back, but again, I don’t see that happening.)

Deposit is $500, and I would need first month’s rent and deposit up-front for move in. Preference is given for anyone that can add last month’s rent as well, but I’m OK with just the deposit and first month if that’s too much. I can also be a bit flexible on payment of the deposit, spreading it out over a couple of months if needed, but I do need someone that can pay rent and bills on-time, so if you have trouble with doing that, please do not apply. You must be stable financially and have a steady job or proof of income/savings, etc. Please no couples, the place is just too small for that.

The apartment is on the corner of the building, so we get good air flow, and things stay generally cool in the summer. Location is terrific, just a few doors down from Safeway and Natural Grocers on SE Powell and 40th, plus it’s only a short walk to Creston Park, and some really fun little bars and restaurants on SE Gladstone. There is a small balcony/deck that provides a bit of fresh air, but the complex does not allow the smoking of cigarettes out there, FYI. (There are designated smoking areas provided outside near the parking lot.) Please no smoking indoors and no hard drugs. I’m 420 friendly, but please don’t smoke inside.

About the roomies

About me: I’m a busy guy and I work as a substitute teacher and a bartender, so I don’t spend a ton of time at home. I have a little writing studio down the street that I try to use for creative endeavors, so even on my off time, I tend not to hang around too much. When I am home, however, I do like a community feel to where I live. That doesn’t mean we need to be best friends or anything, but I do like to have a friendly relationship with my housemates and maybe even share a cup of coffee or a drink or something from time-to-time. I love getting to know new people and I do have a few guests over once in a while, but this isn’t a party house or anything. We have neighbors that are on the noise-sensitive side, so if you have people coming by, please be sure things are somewhat chill. I’m very open and communicative and do best with people that can have good conversations about the needs they have. I’m down-to-earth and easy going about most things, so please be willing to talk things out if there are concerns that you have.

About you: I would prefer someone that is friendly, easygoing and that has things going on outside of the house. The place is not huge, so preference is given to folks that do not work at home, though once again, for the right fit, I can be flexible. There is a desk in the common area that I use and that can be shared if you’d like. Please be willing to clean up after yourself, do your dishes and pitch-in to keep the place decent and tidy. I’m not a neat-freak, but please be someone that appreciates a clean, nice place to live and that will do chores and a bit of housework on at least a bi-weekly basis, or so.

OK, that about covers it! I’d love to meet you if all this sounds like it could be a fit for you, so please reply to this ad or shoot me a text, and we can schedule a time to bring you by. Looking forward to meeting you!
