Jim's room

Hello! My name is Jim and I’m looking for someone to join me in my house in Sheridan, CO. Located near the intersection of 285 and Santa Fe. Short drive/bike to the Riverpoint Shopping Center with Costco, Target, PetSmart, restaurants, etc. Walking distance to the South Platte River trail. One mile from Denver’s Loretto Heights redevelopment area.

I have two options for rooms. One for $1000/month and the other for $1300/month. Rent includes all utilities: water, gas, electric (solar), trash/recycling, gigabit internet. Flexible on lease term. Either room can come empty or partially furnished with a desk and/or full-size bed.

Room option 1 is a first floor bedroom for $1000/month. It’s the smaller of the two rooms, but it’s right next to the first floor bathroom. That bathroom, the green one, will be more or less yours, since I mainly use the upstairs one, but it is the guest bathroom. It does not have a shower/tub so we’d share that in the upstairs bathroom. I can add a ceiling fan to the room before you move in if you’d like.

Room option 2 is the upstairs bedroom for $1300/month. This bedroom is the larger of the two and has mountain and city views, a walk-in closet (bigger than mine), and quick access to the upstairs bathroom with shower and the laundry room. There’s a dresser in the closet right now that can be included too if you’d like. I’ll also have the proper curtains installed and the floor/window trim done before move in.

About the house: It’s two stories and ~2,500 sq. ft. including a partially finished basement. Kitchen includes a brand-new induction range and hood, microwave, refrigerator w/ ice maker, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, toaster, instant pot, and mixer. There’s a gas grill out back and a kegerator in the basement (if you can get it working). All other kitchen items are available for you to use as-is and you’re welcome to include your own stuff. The living room is furnished and has a TV, Xbox One, Apple TV, a little plant area, and a real wood-burning fireplace. A room in the basement is available for you to use as storage as is the shed outside. The backyard is fenced in, there’s a covered back porch and a second-story deck (work in progress).

There’s a ton of street parking, but no garage or driveway parking. I park on the street more often than not. The fence gate is a huge PITA to get in and out of, the driveway is actually way smaller than it looks, and the garage is my workshop. If you’re a car enthusiast like myself, or would like to do some DIY work on your car, the garage does have a 2-post lift which makes things way easier. More than happy to discuss details on access to that, but we’d have to build some trust first.

Who I’m looking for: someone mature, responsible, respectful, clean, open communicator, LGBT+ ally, environmentally conscious, and just a general good person. It would be cool to be friends if we click but not required.

About me: I’m 32 and work from home (most of the time) as an aerospace engineer. When I’m not working I enjoy working out, working on my house/car/whatever stupid project I have at the time, going to restaurants/breweries/bars, and farting around on the internet. I keep the shared areas of the house pretty clean and keep my clutter to my room/office/workshop.

I’m open to pets, but they would have to get along with my family dog Angel, a Japanese Chin who will be staying with us from time to time. He’s super chill and gets along with most dogs. He also does well with cats, in that he’s learned from living with my parents’ two cats who aren’t fans of him, so he keeps his distance. I’m sure he’d probably do equally well with a friendly one.
