Greetings! I am looking for a housemate to share a cozy home on a quiet street in Greenfield, MA. The room is currently available for November 1st.

I live in a two-family duplex home; on the other side of our duplex is a family of four who are good friends of mine. They have two lovely children, who are often frolicking with their friends in the backyard and porch. Children are welcome in my home and I love to have them around. My neighbors and I sometimes have shared meals and are living in community. Our neighborhood is intergenerational, warm, and friendly. Our house is just under a mile to downtown Greenfield.

The available room (on my side of the duplex) is on the ground level, with 3 large windows looking out on the street and big trees, as well as the porch. The room can be available unfurnished, but right now has a a desk, dresser and a small bookshelf - which can be removed if so desired. The house has beautiful wood floors throughout. My bedroom and office are on the second story, and we would share the kitchen, bathroom, living room and porch. We would also share the front and back yard, which includes a fire pit, meditation hut, picnic table, and shed with bike storage, as well as storage space in the attic. Please note: the pictures listed on this craigslist post have a bed in the room available, but that bed is not longer in the space. The room currently has a desk, chest of drawers and a small wooden wall bookshelf. These are optional items of furniture for you to use if you wish.

I love children and all forms of creative artistry. Currently I teach at a forest program for very young children and love spending time in the deep woods. I’m a writer of poems and nonfiction and love to play folk and jazz influenced music. This is a very musical household, as my friend and bandmate on the other side of the duplex is often practicing guitar. We occasionally host backyard concerts, which you and your friends would certainly be welcome to attend. I sometimes have rehearsals in my living room, with children listening and snuggling on the couch. In general, I value kind and respectful communication, honesty and care of my fellow people. I aim to live with environmental sustainability in mind and I avoid artificial chemicals and fragrances in the house.

I am looking for a housemate (not a couple) who shares these values and lifestyle choices. It’s important to me to each do our part to maintain a clean, beautiful, cozy, and welcoming space, so that our house is a peaceful place that feels like a home.

The room is $550 a month - a $250 deposit is due upon making a commitment to move in; first month’s rent and last month’s rent is due upon move in date.
