About the room

Hey there,

I have a room available open immediately in the Cully district on Prescott st. The room is 9’x12’ with closet 2.5’x1.5’. The room comes with a dedicated off street parking spot and half of the unfinished basement (18’x10’) that can be used for art, workspace, gym, storage, etc (gym equipment in pic not included).

The house also has a decent sized living room and can accommodate somebody who has furniture (most of the furniture in the pics will be gone), a small dining room and a decent sized kitchen. The dining room table is expendable if you have a table to bring. As far as I’m concerned the decor in the common areas is a blank canvas, so if you have ideas or stuff to bring that would be great.

Outside of the rooms there is plenty of storage space in the attic and two more decent sized closets near the kitchen.

I’m looking for a compatible somebody for a long-term positive living situation who is mature, fully employed, able to pay bills on time, laid back, clean, responsible, and friendly. We encourage anybody who feels they are compatible with what we are looking for irregardless of race, gender, etc. to apply.

  • Somebody who proactively cleans up after themselves (including and especially dishes) and helps keep the common spaces of the house clean.
  • Occasional guests are welcome but we don’t want to be the official hang out spot for your posse.
  • This definitely is not a party house
  • The house is mostly a quiet house. That doesn’t mean it’s silent but I probably don’t want to have loads of loud music or television blasting for hours on end.
  • Daytime noise in the basement might be OK but would depend on the whether it bothers the other first floor occupant. One previous tenant had a 3D printing studio in the basement and was able to use his power saw during the day without bothering me working from home on the second floor. We would need to do a sound test first though.
  • Somebody who respects and takes care of items that are in the common spaces
  • We don’t have to be best friends forever but it would be nice to have somebody we can have positive relations with and engage in friendly communication time to time.
  • Somebody who is honest, respectful and a good communicator
  • Preference for people over 30

Perks:

  • decent location, safe quiet neighborhood
  • there is a single parking spot for your car as well as plenty of street parking
  • on-site but coin laundry ($1.25 each)
  • none of the 3 bedrooms share a wall
  • dish washer
  • hardwood floors
  • plenty of storage space (basement, attic and two closets located near kitchen)
  • musician friendly (drums and loud amplified music probably wouldn’t be a good mix here although we could potentially work out some noisy times)
  • there is a small but tranquil fenced-in backyard
  • the landlord takes care of all yardwork

The no fun/party pooper stuff:

  • No indoor smoking/vaping tobacco products
  • No alcohol dependency issues or hard drugs (420 and light drinking OK)
  • No dogs but might be open to other pets (I believe the landlord wants a pet deposit of $100)
  • There is no central heat, instead each room has their own built-in heater
  • Quiet hours after 10pm or so

About the roomies

The roommate: John - (50 year old male) - I’m a long time student of the Indian sitar and sometimes make electronic music (through headphones). I’m pretty well travelled having spent about 4 years overseas mostly in Asia and the mediterranean. One of my hobbies these days is trying to cook some of the food I ate during those trips (I’ve had the best luck with Indian, Thai and middle-eastern). I like hiking and the outdoors, I used to be an avid backpacker when I lived in CA. I currently work from home 8-5 doing IT support. I also do a little bit of yoga and am a long time vegetarian (technically an extremely part time pescatarian) but I don’t concern myself with the diets of others unless they’re cooking meth (which is a big NO!). I rarely drink but smoke 420. I am in a long term committed loving relationship with cheese. Fully vaccinated.

Benjamin - (early 30’s male) - Works as a administrator at a hospital and is a college student.
