West 11th Avenue

A room has opened up in our 5-bedroom house in the Cliff Cannon Neighborhood (AKA Lower South Hill), one block behind Huckleberry’s. We are looking for a co-living housemate who is peaceful, friendly, respectful, clean and wants to live in community.

We are within walking distance of downtown, hospitals, a neighborhood coffee shop, bars, restaurants, a hardware store and two grocery stores, etc. We are also 1/2 block from a frequent bus route. The neighborhood is super pleasant and walkable and close to the High Drive Bluff trails, which are great for hiking, running, biking, etc. Neighbors are friendly and there are lots of trees, beautifully landscaped yards, large historic homes, etc.

The Room: We have one room open upstairs for $495/month available on November 1st. This room has great light with a west-facing window, a full-sized closet, and hardwood floors. Dimensions are 11’x11’. Additional hallway, basement and garage storage available, too. You’d be sharing the upstairs floor with 2 women who are quiet and respectful.

The House: Generous downstairs common spaces include a large kitchen, living, and dining rooms with hardwood floors throughout. Other amenities include one washer and two driers shared by the house, a full unfinished basement where you can workout, set up a shop or hang out. There are 2 full bathrooms shared by all 5 housemates. We all share in cleaning responsibilities for the house. We often do group dinners, which are typically vegetarian as 3 of us usually eat that way. The house also has a cozy wood burning fireplace. We try to be environmentally conscious and use reusable rags for cleaning, non-toxic cleaning products, etc.

The Yard: The back yard features fruit trees, veggies, and an edible permaculture landscape complete with berry bushes, strawberries and several perennial vegetables and herbs. People with the skills and desire to be active in the garden are a definite plus in this living arrangement.

The Terms: We are a non-smoking, non-vaping, social house. We have 1 cat and are not looking to add any other pets to the house at this time. Utilities are not included in rent, but they are split five ways and are made even more affordable by the super-insulation and energy efficiency upgrades in the home. They average about $70-100/month per person.

First month’s rent, last month’s rent and a refundable security deposit is required to secure the room, and a $37.50 background check is required to protect housemates. Lease is for 1 year.

There are 4 of us who live here, 1 guy and 3 gals. We range in age 26-44. We have diverse professions and interests: there’s a WSU pharmacy student, a nurse at Sacred Heart, a Spokane Parks gardener/wildlife educator, and a preschool teacher. Some of us are into rock climbing, hiking, and we do social activities together sometimes like escape rooms, going out to dinner, Scarywood, etc. And let’s not forget the most important roommate, a super cute yet somewhat skittish black cat named Morpheus, or Morphie for short. As he tends to be a bit wary, we are not looking to add any other pets to the house at this time.
