Maia's room

A bedroom in a two bedroom house in the Berkeley Hills about 2 miles from Sather Gate. There is a shared diningoom, livingroom, kitchen, bathroom with bathtub, patio and garden. Downstairs is a laundry room with a second bathroom with a shower and a garage that is mostly used to store things. Lots of street parking, quiet area. Bedroom is furnished with a dresser, cabinet, low table and one or two beds (your choice). At the moment the bookcases that hide the sleeping area from the door are full but we can make space, but not clear them entirely.

My father lives alone after his wife of many years died in August. The room for rent used to be his wife’s. He would share the bathroom in the house but he does not use the one downstairs in the laundry room so the tenant could largely have that to him/herself. He is elderly and has a caregiver come in six days a week to help with tasks, drive him to appointments and the supermarket and help him with his daily exercises. She is a very nice lady and would not bother the room tenant. Once or twice a year for a few weeks at Christmas and/or in the summer his daughter (me) and sometimes her family will visit and occupy the living room and also share the bathroom. We are looking for a quiet responsible person, ideally a graduate student or young professional who won’t make a lot of fuss in the night by bringing loud friends.
