About the room

Looking for a furnished room short term while you are in DC for a job or internship or new to the city but need a place to stay while looking for a place of your own? This could be a great spot for you! Fully furnished room in a sunny, corner, top floor apartment near 16th & Columbia Rd NW is available for move in on October 1st.

The location is fabulous, on a small side street just off 16th St NW near bus lines, bike share, the Columbia Heights Metro and Malcolm X/ Meridian Hill Park, in the vibrant neighborhood of Adams Morgan with lots of coffee shops and cafes, two super markets, independent businesses, bars and restaurants. The location is also very close to the heart of Columbia Heights with shops including Target, Marshalls, Best Buy, DSW and the new Lidl grocery store.

There is a minimum stay of 3 months, until the end of December. Option for longer stay as well. Room is in an apartment that is shared with one other person. The bedroom is set up more like a studio apartment, with a queen size memory foam bed, small loveseat sofa, coffee table, bedside table, desk, swivel stool, a regular chair with armrest and round papasan style chair. The room has its own AC/Heating so you can control the temperature as you like. The bedroom also has blackout curtains which block out the street light and are great if you want to sleep in. There is a hot water pot and coffee maker in the room if you want to make coffee or tea.

Looking for someone who has a 9-5 sort of job or internship on site with a more predictable schedule. If you are a student or work from home even just a few days a week, this isn’t going to be a good spot for you as the apt is not ideal for two people who work from home.

Shared spaces include the bathroom and kitchen. There is a table and chairs in the kitchen area you are welcome to use. In the kitchen there is also a microwave, toaster oven, VitaMix, Omega Juicer, different coffee makers and all of the basic kitchen stuff. No dishwasher. Gas stove. Bedding and towels and all of the supplies for the bathroom and kitchen (tp, paper towels, soaps, etc.) are all provided so all you’d need to bring is a suitcase or two and your computer or whatever other comforts you’d like.

Amenities: The building also has some nice amenities. There is a small roof deck with beautiful views, especially around sunset. In the basement there is a small gym, laundry room, bike room and community room and there is also a small courtyard out back with picnic table and cushioned benches. Building has elevators and is fully air conditioned and heated.

Happy to show the room in person or over video chat if you are not currently in the area.

Neighborhood and Public Transit Options:

Great location, just off of 16th St near Columbia Rd NW, between Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights. About a 10 min or so walk to Columbia Heights Metro where you can catch the green line. You can also walk to Woodley Park if you want to catch the red line. It’s about 18 minutes, or you can bike or take the Circulator bus there.

Lots of bus lines head downtown along 16th St (S2, S9) and to Dupont, Foggy Bottom and The Kennedy Center from Columbia Rd (42/43) and there are crosstown (H2/H4) buses as well. The Circulator bus (Woodley Park-McPherson Sq line) is close by and there is a Capital Bikeshare station nearby too.

Malcolm X / Meridian Hill park is just two blocks away. Located in Adams Morgan, close to Mt Pleasant and Columbia Heights, there is no shortage of places to shop, eat and grab coffee within a short walk. The Potter’s House is the closest coffeeshop that also serves food and they are an independent bookstore and event space as well. Grocery stores in walking distance include Harris Teeter and Safeway. The DC USA shopping area in Columbia Heights that has a Target, Best Buy, DSW, IHOP, Marshalls a the new Lidl grocery store is also a short walk from the apt.

Note: If you have a car this is not the best place for you. Parking is very difficult and DC tags and zone 1 permits are required in most of the spots in this neighborhood.

The room is for one person. No kids, pets, couples or smokers (that includes cigarettes, vaping or weed) please.

If you think this would be a good fit for you, please let me know a bit more about yourself and your situation and also the date range you are looking for. Happy to show the room over video chat, Facetime or in person if you are in DC.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post with all of the details. Look forward to hearing from you if you think this might be a good fit and to learning more about you.

Please let me know in your reply:

  • A bit more about you if you are comfortable sharing
  • What brings you to DC
  • What your work or internship schedule will be like
  • The dates you are looking for a place
  • Whether you’d like to see the place over video or in person and what days and times may work for you!

About the roomies

The apartment is shared with one other a female in her 40’s who is pretty chill and self- employed as a life coach supporting creatives, empaths and HSPs. Travel a bit as well to see friends, attend events and to help care for my elderly father who lives out of area. Being more of a night owl, quiet mornings are important. It’s totally fine if you are not a night owl and if you need to get up early for work, just wanted to note that if you plan to cook in the mornings and use the kitchen that isn’t really a good fit. Being an HSP, I’m also sensitive to smells, especially chemicals and perfumes, colognes, and aerosol fragrances so I ask that no strong hair or body products used in the space.
