About the room

Couples and friends welcome w\ +$100 APARTMENT - This two-bedroom apartment features a spacious living room with an attached kitchen and a single bathroom. It comes equipped with a washer and dryer. The apartment has two entrances, with the back door opening to the garden. The average size of one of the bedrooms is around 15 square meters and it includes two large closets. If you’d like to rent it as a couple or with a friend, there will be an additional $100 increase in rent.

ENVIRONMENT - Located in a quiet neighborhood, the building consists of five apartments. At the end of the street, you’ll be greeted by a Manhattan skyline view. There are local shops and coffeehouses in the vicinity. Within a 3-minute walk, you can reach places like Little Caesars Pizza, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Family Dollar, and more. There’s a Lidl grocery store just 10 minutes away (also known as the Cheapest Grocery shop ever), and a smaller La Platica Groceries store is only a 5-minute walk away. Numerous shops to meet your needs are within walking distance.

If you enjoy morning runs, you’ll be motivated by the scenic view, and if you’re into stair workouts, you’ll want to shout “Adriaan!!” after conquering the 500 steps overlooking Manhattan. There’s a nearby basketball court, and if you fancy a 20-minute walk along the shore, you’ll find a soccer field and a running track. You can reach free tennis courts within a 15-minute walk, and guess what, they offer incredible views. Additionally, there’s wall tennis right next to the two courts, and a not-so-large but quite enjoyable skate park within the same park. In short, there are plenty of outdoor sports opportunities.

TRANSPORTATION - You can use NJ Transit buses with a single ride fare of $3.5 or a monthly pass for $107 for transportation. Buses pass by the end of the street every 3-15 minutes. Getting to Manhattan’s Port Authority takes between 15-30 minutes depending on traffic. To get back from Port Authority to the apartment, you can use any bus at gate number 212 until 10:00 pm, with frequencies usually ranging from 5-10 minutes. After 10 p.m., the intervals increase to 20 minutes, and after 1 a.m., it becomes 45 minutes. If you’re tired or don’t feel like taking the bus, Lyft is an option and costs around $20-25, subject to daily variations. Spanish Buses are another option for getting from NJ to Manhattan, charging $3.5 for fares, but I don’t have information on their frequency or other details.

Imagine commuting to work or school by ferry across the Hudson River during a beautiful sunset. Port Imperial is just a 15-minute walk away, and you can reach Pier 39th for $9.5.

The Port Imperial station on the Hudson-Bergen Line also has trams that can take you to various locations across NJ.

About the roomies

I moved here five months ago and my days are structured around routines. I spend most of my time focusing on our respective work, and although I’ve started taking steps to improve my home, there’s still much to do. Among my immediate plans is to create a seating area in our garden and set up a space in the living room with a laser projector for watching films.

I’m a recent graduate and a filmmaker, and even though a significant portion of my day is spent outdoors, I also spend hours at home working. Music that doesn’t leave my room accompanies me throughout the day. Some days of the week, I engage in painting, while on other days, I enjoy watching movies in the living room.
