RENT A PRIVATE ROOM IN A HOUSE

Please read the description I am renting one room in my home – not the whole house. My preference is for a female roommate.

ABOUT THE POND HOUSE

A Pond House Hello, reader. This is a house of artists and nerdy folk.

Sadly, the house is a split level and thus we have a lot of stairs. Please take that into consideration when choosing this property.

This room is on the 2nd floor. We would share the full bathroom on the 2nd floor for showering/tub but the renter can use the powder room as their own for keeping all personal toilette items.

The space is small, so I am not renting to couples. No Smoking. No Pets. No Vaping on the property.

RENT INFO: Rent is $600/mo + utilities = $880/mo.

You would pay for ½ of the water, electricity, gas, and wifi – I undercut the amount to keep the room cost down.

ABOUT POND HOUSE:

The house is a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath house on 1/4 acre of land. The room is about 235 sq feet or 17x14 feet. It has windows facing the street as well as the side of the house. There is a decent closet within the room.

The rest of the house is quite spacious. There is a large living room, a den/sitting area with a fireplace on the lower level, a green room for those with a green thumb, a large dining room, and a lovely kitchen. The kitchen has a fridge, oven, microwave, and other cookery-type thingies. The basement is only a crawl space. But there is a utility room that has a washer/dryer and lots of tools and an art studio.

We have a lovely front lawn, a small veggie garden, and a moderately sized backyard. Sadly we cannot allow cats, dogs, or any other animal that walks on floors (things in cages, bowls, and terrariums need approval). The house already has a silly, friendly border collie who loves to play fetch and won’t be sitting on the furniture – because the two cats who live here already have dibs. The house just isn’t big enough for another floor animal.

ABOUT THE LOCATION We are in a great location. We are only a few blocks from Christiana Cecil County/Union Hospital, all of the school systems of Elkton, as well as several bars and microbreweries. (Perfect for Travel Nurses!)

Not to mention we have Hoppy who waves Hi to you from the local bridge every day and Rapper John who will share his poetry with you in the neighborhood (if you’re lucky).

Please include your name and when you would like to meet - physically or digitally. I’m available most evenings. If you join the house, there will be a lease to sign and first, last, and a security deposit (rent x3) will be required. There is no application fee, but references will be needed as well as proof of income.

The rent of $600 is for the room and usage of the house.

Utilities: Only water is included - we pay ½ gas, electric, and internet (which is pretty high speed). Though the utility bills will change month to month, the rate for the renter will remain the same at $280 to avoid any budgeting issues. So in total rent each month is $880.00

ABOUT US The house is owned by a gay, bleeding-heart, nonprofit director who works in Baltimore. Her retired girlfriend is over most weekends and loves to do the yard work and handywoman stuff. Most of the time we are out on weekends or traveling. On weeknights, we keep it down for the sleep and morning folks. There aren’t parties of the drunken frat-boy persuasion. More like the occasional movie night/board game/pagan ritual type persuasion. Common house areas are kept neat and tidy and everyone’s personal space is respected.

The owner is honest, candid, a bit goofy, and very caring. Not to mention she makes a mean tincture should you ever get sick. This is a COVID-vaccinated house.
