Over the years the house has attracted people in their twenties, mostly students and young professionals from all over the country and the world, looking for a comfortable, safe and creative space.

There’s a very laid back vibe at the house, which is a comfortable new construction about a 10 min straight bike ride from campus.

The house has a cozy fireplace and central heating for the winter and central AC to stay cool in the summer, plenty of parking for everybody in the garage and in the back, many modern amenities and a cool tree in the backyard with an area to hang out outside.

Jan, the landlord, is multilingual, has a master’s degree in IT and Electrical Engineering from The TUM in Munich, Germany, a music degree from Musicians Institute in Hollywood and is always happy to help. He lives and works out of his music recording studio only a few minutes away from the house, and loves wind, water and snow sports and traveling.

About the roomies

Your potential housemates would be, in their own words:

Eugene I’m an international student from Korea, but lived in Taiwan for most of my life. I am an applied maths major and this will be my second year at USC. I really enjoy playing basketball, as I have played throughout both middle and high school. I used to work out but I stopped going to the gym a while back so I’m looking to get back to it once school starts this year. I’m also very interested in photography and cinematography, so I plan on minoring in one of the two. I love meeting new people and socializing most of the time but I do really value alone time as well. In terms of cleanliness, I’d say I’m around a 8. I usually keep my room reasonably organized and clean, do laundry rather frequently, and would also like to keep my room a shoes off area.

Abhijit

I am an incoming graduate student at USC intending to attain a Masters in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Management. I currently intern at a nearby architecture and engineering office and love the environment that I am a part of.

I am a firm creative at heart and love to engage in various hobbies and learn new skills. One of my recently acquired hobbies is Electrical Engineering with Arduino and numerous components. Most recently, I finished a project where I built an MP3 player and for my senior design project, I worked on developing the electrical system that controls our Cube Satellite’s mechanical system. Other hobbies include my love for music (quite a lot) and music production/songwriting, movies and tv shows, graphic design and editing, video games (PC, PS, or even GameCube) and cooking. I hope to cater towards the laid back vibe of the house.

In terms of cleanliness, I would say I am a 7 or 8. Occasionally, my personal space may get a little cluttered when busy with school and work but I always strive to maintain organization and cleanliness, especially with shared spaces and bathrooms. I often take little breaks to sweep floors and spruce up around the house. I wholly believe that maintaining cleanliness in the house will allow for a more comfortable and social environment.
 Cairo

I’m 25 born and raised in LA and surrounding areas. I work in the art industry, for my aunt’s art gallery near USC. I’m mostly interested in art and things related. On scale of 1-10, I’d say I’m a 7/8 when it comes to cleanliness. I tend to be a bit more forgiving with my own room space but I really prefer to keep common areas clean, especially if I have to share a bathroom with others.

Adiel

I have lived in Philadelphia for most of my life, and am coming to the west coast for the first time to study Applied Psychology at USC. I did my undergraduate studies in Sociology and Fine Arts at UPenn. I’m 24-years-old, and I spent the past few years working at a workers’ compensation law firm in Philly. In my free time, I love hiking, swimming, and exploring botanical gardens. I really got into caring for houseplants at the start of the pandemic, and I have developed a green thumb through the hobby. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my cleanliness level is an 8.

Mark

I came to LA from Japan last August to study English. I already graduated from a language school located in Westwood and then I’m going to New Vision Institute University on this April to study business. Although I was supposed to stay for a year, I made up in my mind to stay in the U.S for several years so that I improve my English because staying just a year is not enough to do it for me. So you may already know but the reason why I decided to leave the current house is that it doesn’t make sense to me to live with roommates who speak the same language. That’s why I’ve been looking for a house where I can live with roommates from at least other countries so that I can communicate with them in English.

Here is the thing what I’ve done before I came to LA. I’m becoming 28 years old on next May and I worked for a Bentley dealership as a technician for more than 4 years after I’d graduated from a vocational school to be a mechanic. But actually as I worked, my mindset was getting changed for some reason, therefore, I decided to quit my job and study abroad in the U.S.
