The Lease

I have lived in this apartment for a few years and have a good relationship with my landlord. He has agreed to a 1 year + 1 year renewal option lease starting September 1st. My old roommate moved out already, once approved by the landlord and with the lease signed you may move in prior to the 1st. The landlord requires a credit check, background check, and proof of income which MUST be passed. 1st month’s rent and security required and an application fee of $150. Utilities not included ($80 avg per person for gas, electric, wifi)

The Apartment

Beautiful 2 bed 1 bath apartment in the heart of Greenpoint BK off Leonard x Meserole. Laundromat a few doors down. Nassau G train stop, Crunch Greenpoint, Library w/ Citibike stop, God Bless Deli, multiple grocery stores and pharmacies within a 1 block radius. Short walk from both McCarren Park and McGolrick Park. Short walk from popular venues like Pony Boy, Good Room, Twins Lounge, etc.. Fully furnished apartment with TV, piano and guitar, record player and speaker system, AC, working fireplace(!), small library, comfy seating and good lighting. Kitchen has many small appliances and seating. Bathroom includes a beloved bidet!!! The apartment is quiet, no noise between units and protected from the noise of late-night Manhattan Ave. 2nd floor walk-up, separate kitchen & living room, no pets.

The Room

9.5’ x 9.5’ with a fire escape window and small side window. Can fit up to a Queen size bed. Walls may be painted (I once painted the room a harsh green, not sure why) and room styled as pleased. Hardwood floor, for fire escape accessibility a non-window AC unit is necessary.

The Landlord

Marc lives on the first floor with his dog Marv. He is a friendly landlord and quick to respond when needed. Our oven caught fire which he had replaced within a week. Marc tends to apartment issues himself and does so quickly and thoroughly. I have never had disturbance issues between the apartments. He is a good presence to be around and I have been happy during my time here.

Me

I am a 27 year old man and have lived in New York for a few years, originally from Cambridge MA. I have two jobs: I am a full time data engineer and work from home throughout the week. I work part time at Bathhouse in Williamsburg (and soon Flatiron too!) as a Saunamaster on some weeknights and every Sunday. About me: I am passionate about health and wellness. I work out and train frequently throughout the week. I have a dance background (dancing for over a decade in choreography & street styles). I am sober and weed friendly but indulge sparingly, I am happy to entertain friends who do smoke. I enjoy neighborhood walks and good company. I am working on my cooking skills and enjoy learning instruments when I can make the time. IG linked.

What I Am Looking For

I have worked very hard to make this apartment a home. I want to live with someone who is responsible, clean, motivated, and happy to entertain guests (within reason). I am looking for good synergy with someone who has similar lifestyle values. I would like to live with someone who I can cook with and for. I want to host friends here and hopefully throw small gatherings and would like a roommate who is eager to participate and invite their friends. Ultimately, I want a roommate who is a friend and not a live-in stranger. Female preferred. I’ve had male and female long term roommates with no issues, in this apartment both my previous roommates have been women. Given the agreed +1 renewal option I want to find someone who’d want to stay the extra year and fits the vibe.
